Today, Honstein was the better wrestler. The next time they meet??? Who knows. It could go either way.
Keefer got beat by Honstein in the quarter-finals. He was pinned by Hoyt of Ainsworth in the consolation semi-finals.

I dont know if you saw but Mike Hytrek of West Holt gave Jay Wood one heck of a good match. Hytrek had him on his back and Wood started sliding for the out-of-bounds.

Keefer lost 7-6 to Honstein in the quarters. In the semis Honstein beat me 5-4. I did some stupid things and didn't wrestle my best but you can't do anything about it, he beat me. In the semis Jones was beating Hoyt 8-4 when Hoyt tried a desperation move at the end of the match and ended up getting put to his back. Hoyt then pinned Keefer in the cons. wrestlebacks. Then I tech falled Hoyt 15-0 for 3rd. Jones forfeited his finals match because he hurt his shoulder in the semifinals match.

Wood made up for it when he beat Pat. That's gonna be a rematch to watch at state.

This will be exciting at state - these two are great wrestlers. Hate to think a match of this caliber may have been swayed by a ref but back points were counted for Pat and never awarded. Jay may have won anyway but that was the turning point. Hope we see them matched up in Lincoln under different circumstances! Good luck to both!!

Congratulations to Ord! Told your fans and would like to tell this forum - they are lucky to have a program with classy kids and coaches. Inside you were gracious winners and congratulatory losers. Never gave up and always supporting your teammates. There were a few times we felt your coaches could have "lost it" but remained calm as we lost it in the stands! Good luck in Lincoln and in future years. Saw some talent that will be there next year.

Speaking of coaches losing it Did anyone watch the Chase County Coaches on Sat. morning. I thouhgt that you could have handled themselves a lil bit better

Who are you? Leave our coaches alone. You have no right to insult our team on account that we've done nothing to you. If you've got anything to say, say it on the mat. Jay Wood

The suprise of the tournament was Morrill, who pulled at least three upsets in the semis. 103 was a barn burner with Honstein over Dru K. At 130, Chris Honstein beat Bridgeport's Perez (for the first time this year). At 171, Jerry Vance upset Bridgeport's Schneider like 16-14- a real wild one. Morrill did a lot of talking on this forum last week about districts and they backed it up on Saturday. They were the story of C4. Kudos to Little Stein, Calahan, etc. for not boasting on Huskermat today.
One of the most hyped and exciting matches of the tourney was at the 160 semis when Hughson defeated May. For the first time this year, Hughson was clearly outmatched in the finals.
As for the town of Imperial, their tourney was first class. For those who have been at meets with some of their team and coaching staff in the past, nothing about their intensity will surprise you.

i would have to agree that you don't need to be telling our coaches how to act. their grown men they will handle themselves. i dont think our coaches were out of line or miss-handled themselves in any way. what did they do that you thought was so bad? get mad and tell a ref he made a bad call? there were some bad calls made on a few matches and not only a chase county match. i seen a few of the coaches get really mad and do stuff but no ones saying anything to them and i for one am not about to. its how they chose to handle something, its their business.

I don't know who you wrestled for 3rd & 4th, but if you won, it wasn't a Chase County kid. We had no fourth place finishers. Three firsts, a second and a third.

Well by the coach acting that way I kinda take it as he is sticking up for his wrestlers when someone else is in the wrong and I think more coaches need to do that, some just get into it a little bit more than others. No big deal
