| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | Both Vacanti and McCoy have wreslted at 145lbs this year. Vacanti-McCoy can meet at the following events: 1. Millard West Tourney 2. Metro Tourney 3. Metro Duals 4. State Tourney 4 rounds would be great to see between these two studs. |

| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | Esai is a quality wrestler, but he is not in Vacanti or McCoy's league. With those three guys at 145lbs (for now at least) that is one solid weight class. You have three D1 guys there. |
| Rookie Registered: August 31, 2004 Posts: 22 | AD don't worry someone on here had to much cafine one question you talk alot about McCoy what make you so sure he's a d1 wrestler he hasn't proven himself on the national level like vacanti has . |
| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | McCoy has not been able to go to Fargo and show off his talents in freestyle and greco like Vacanti has due to being at Boys Town. I hope he goes this summer. McCoy is ranked and has been ranked in the top 5 nationally in several national high school polls. It isn't just me who thinks he is a D1 wrestler. You don't just get ranked 3rd in the country for nothing. He has all the tools to be a solid collegiate wrestler. I just hope NU gets him but do not know anything about his grades, etc. I would take Vacanti against McCoy in all three styles, but Vacanti is one of the best wrestlers in the country right now. |
| Rookie Location: Omaha Registered: May 21, 2004 Posts: 188 | I disagree. I don't believe that McCoy is in Vacanti or Esai's league. I don't think McCoy would make it through a season of college wrestling. It is too intense day in and day out and he has never been pushed or had to train. I'm sure that McCoy has been more athletically gifted than most of his peers since he was 5 years old and therefore has always been a winner. In college it will take much more than talent. I do not think that Esai will have any problem with McCoy this year. Besides Vacanti, I would say that Esai wrestles as close to a college style of wrestling as anybody right now. He has excellent technique, stays in great position and attacks relentlessly. I would not put so much stock into all of these rankings that you look at. It is hard to judge how good some of these wrestlers are who don't leave the state to compete. I know that Jeremy used to have success at the national level but that gap closes quickly with a few off seasons off. Nothing against McCoy are any of these guys. They are all very special talents and I hope to see some of these matchups happen. |

Esai is an exeptional wrestler, but i feel he can't keep up with McCoy or Vacanti and i see McCoy beating Vacanti sometime this year. |
| Rookie Location: Durham,North Carolina Registered: November 04, 2002 Posts: 196 | Underhook you are so wrong when it comes to Jeremy it hurts. Your assumptions are totally off. With that said i think they are all on the same level and it depends on who shows up that will win. |
| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | McCoy is legit. I have spoken my peace on him. Esai did not fare too well when Prep went out of town earlier this year. Esai is a quality wrestler but he is not in Vacanti or McCoy's league. Sure those rankings are subjective, but he is ranked in several of them by guys who watch tons of tape and he deserves to be ranked high. |
Junior High![]() Registered: December 08, 2004 Posts: 544 | But we have 3 state champs at the same weight. Here is how I rank them 1. Vacanti 2. Esai 3. McCoy |
| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | I have to put McCoy ahead of Esai, but until they wrestle, who knows. I just hope some of these potential matches happen. They never seem to unfortunately. |
| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | This post is from "wrestlingguru" on themat.com site. I do not know how accurate it is but take it with a grain of salt. "The last time Esai wrestled McCoy, he got tech falled and that was folkstyle. Ask Mark Manning from Nebraska who he thinks is the most talented wrestler in Nebraska. I'll give you a hint, its not Vacanti and its not Dominguez." |

| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | I don't think the two spoke obviously, but I don't see why he would make up the results part. His comments on themat.com are usually pretty good. |
| Junior High Registered: October 06, 2003 Posts: 510 | I think the attempt to rate the 3 is pretty much useless. These are guys whose style are different enough; and all are talented enough; that you just aren't going to know unless they wrestle. Anybody trying to downgrade Esai's talents; is fooling themselves only. Esai is simply one of the best HS wrestlers in Nebraska, period. As to Esai's supposed lack of success nationally; I think he medaled this year at Fargo in Greco. I didn't think All-American's at Fargo's were considered to have little success nationally. That's news to me. |
| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | Esai did finish 5th in Greco and that is great. He is a very good wrestler but he is not IMO better than McCoy or Vacanti, especially in folkstyle where it matter most. The latest rankings for NE has McCoy #1 and Esai #2 at 145lbs. We will have to just wait and see until they do wrestle to see who is the best. I wish Vacanti stays at 145lbs where he wrestled his last dual and then we will find out who the top three are. Now that would be something. |
| NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | I think everyone just needs to be patient. I've heard some things and if I know Vacanti...He will step up and wrestle McCoy just to prove a few things, but he will stay at 140 and also defeat Perkins. He is certified at 135, because he wants to wrestle at senior nationals at that weight. That means, when he does go up to 145, he will actually only weigh 140 cause you can't go up more than one weight class without moving your certification up one. If he weighted in at 143 and wrestled 145 he would move his certification up to 140. Obviously a slight advantage for McCoy. I don't think it will matter. I know there's alot of people out there that love to see the top guy fall...it won't happen this year and Vacanti will have all of you to thank, because he is a competitor and all the things said on the forum have probably given he something to really work even harder for. Most of the time the top guy falls in an unexpected match against a lessor opponent. These matches spoken about in this thread will not be a surprise and Vacanti will be ready. |
| State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | I hope you read my posts and see that I have Vacanti as the top guy over McCoy and Esai. Most do. I also stated in another thread that Vacanti will certify at 135 for senior nationals and wrestle at 140 for the season. |

Wasn't referring to you directly...just to others that have posted that McCoy would defeat Vacanti. I appreciate your thoughts on the threads...keep them coming. |
