Billy Jo Jim Bob Graham. Come out from the hills of Tennessee and shine that final tooth before we pull it! Basically the Marty McCurdy is a living embodiment of the path of Christ. He doesn't have to preach or lead prayer services, NO, to look upon him is to look upon the face of his Christian beliefs. So, there is NO separation of Church and State here - NOPE, NONE! The guy LIVES the experience of Christ. Now have some of THAT Tennessee down home science.

So his kids are good kids. That still does not make it right that he shares his beliefs in school. Period. "NO, to look upon him is to look upon the face of his Christian beliefs." I have my tooth shined up and in no way does my dentist recommend that I follow him. I have it upon good knowledge that when you turn in your fellow coaches for infractions....you must be prepared for the wrath of the lord...ooops I mean dentist!

Hey Marty, I have watched you for the last several years with admiration. I think God compels us to live the life of Christ, and I think that it is a sin to deny him as Peter did so long ago. I think you should openly evangelize without forcing the word of GOD down people's throats. I am proud to be a Christian, and I think that we need more Christian coaches who will give our kids the Gospel message in word and action. You keep the faith, Marty, and ask...........WWJD?

My son...I have to admit that I need for you to continue to carry the commandments to the heathens as they travel this journey we call life....but damn man...do you have to do it at school? I have been watching over this discussion as I look down my staff, and we are in serious trouble. I just hope that the Pharaoh, other wise know, as the Schoo does not find out about what you have been saying to your kids and on this forum. Cause many a great man has been held to the fire and brimstone for less!

In the famous saying...what goes around comes around...I once knew a guy that would call in and complain about every little thing. He even went as far to comment on when another coach was holding club practice. It caused some rift, but all is well now! Look out it is coming around!

Don't even get me started on the state of government and all the backasswards nonsense that they perpetrate on our civilization. It's amazing to me how we can talk about everything BUT religion in public schools, but the moment somebody says they believe in God, they are suddenly bad influences on our children.
You want bad influences? Here's two words for ya'...Bill FREAKING Clinton (OK, that was three...I'm a writer, not a mathmetician...)
Ah crap...now you got me started...

Donald Duck.... get you started?...that is a contrast in Goofy vs. Dumbo....what do you know about the state of government?...wait that monthly subsidy still comes in each month! That sure helps to pay for those beers and golf trips...oh by the way...had to check out your magazine. Have to love when the "E" Publisher uses stones as a reference in his leading article! I liked how you called out the World Herald...good work. They must be scared to death of your stature in the publishing world. I will have to see their stone reference in this evening’s paper. Now that will be some quality publishing!

I am Marty McMcurdy's assistant coach. I wrestled with Marty a UNL and he was a Christian when I first meet him. Marty and I have coached togeather for the last 12 years at East. Over the past 12 years Marty has become my best friend and a coach and person I have aspired to be like. I am the head cross cuntry coach at Lincoln East and the philosophy I have developed over the years has been one I have tried to model from Coach McCurdys. All of the wrestlers on the team know Coach is a Christian, but Marty has never lead a prayer with the wrestlers at practicre or at a meet. If a wrestler wanted to discuss their faith with Coach, I'm sure he would be willing to do this, but he has never done this at practice or at any meets. Marty has had an undeniable impact on my faith in God as I am sure he has on the faith of many of his wrestlers, but it is not because of any preaching, it is because he is a great Christian role model. Marty has coached all three of my sons and my daughter is the student manager. I feel blessed that they have all had the opportunity to have been coached by the only coach I would want to coach my kids. I found a paper my son Nick recently wrote in which he talked of how Coach was the most influential teacher he had ever had and how much he had taught him about life. And as far as making excuses for not winning a state championship this year, Marty had the same faith in God and philosophy when we got beat by Kearney seventy something to nothing. You coach McCurdy bashers have obviously never meet the man.

This is not who you think I am. I am really Jesus(Hey Sus)as you say in English. I think that this years tomatoes will be a banner crop! I am looking forward to a great year of wrestling in my new country! Nebraska has much to offer, including men who believe in the Virgin Mary. By the way, I tried to tell my senorita that I was not the poppie as she was the Virgin Mary. It did not work Senor!

My friend works down and the district office, and there is a buzz down there that a coach is mixing religion with school? I wonder who turned that information in?

Obviously we have never met the man? Obviously? Come on. Is the guy the same guy who can't stay in his seat during wrestling meets which (I think) is the rule? The same guy who has more contortions during a match than Michael Jackson on stage? The same guy who argues with the passion of F. Lee Bailey? The same guy with flaming red hair (or what is left of it?), the same guy who.......Wait? I guess you are right, obviously, I have never met the guy.

By the way I am on my luch break, I guess I am on a school computer, but I have typed and printed tons of school stuff on my own computer. You are right I should not violate the law and if you can convince me that I am doing so I will make every attempt to stop. As far as me sharing my faith with my wrestlers, I do not believe I have in anyway violated the separation of church and state. I do not even pray before meets as some may still do. I do not evangelize my kids in anyway during school time or practice time. Now Jeff Rutledge spoke on this forum about me being an influence on his religious life, I think if you ask him if I have evagelized him in anyway during my time as his "offical coach" I think he would say no. You need to understand that Jeff is at my house about as much as I am and so are many of my other wrestlers. Yes when we are in non school settings we discuss religion and everything else. Does the fact that I am their coach give me some extra influence, I hope it does, but if I am a poor coach I think it would actually detract from my influence. If your doctor (or maybe I should say dentist) does a great job for you and is extremelly diligant in helping you to be as healthful as possible, will you be more likely to listen to him? I would say yes. Is that wrong? I would say know. I spend tremendous amounts of informal time with my wrestlers and even then I never force my faith upon them. Do we discuss issues? Yes Do I stand up for my beliefs? yes. I think you need to understand Jeff's post more clearly my influence on him has been through our overall relationship. By the way his dad is a principal in our district and I don't think he believes I have been miss using my power as a coach. I have had a muslim on my team and atheists I don't beleive any of them have felt like they have been shorted or pressured by me in any way.
There is one thing that was said that does really bother me and that is the implication that I turned somebody in for illegal practices. This is a blatant lie and it might be slanderous or libelous which ever one it is. I never turned anybody in and whoever informed you that I did is lieing and that is the truth. If you don't believe me just let me know who you are and I will put you in touch with some people who can let you know what the truth is.
Hey my lunch bell just rang so I am signing off.

Do you have a guilty conscience? I do not see where anyone said that you turned in someone. Is there a reason you referenced that in your post? Maybe you could share what you are talking about? Do you know anything about that? Remeber now that the lord always seeks the truth!

I would guess about now that my anus would be on fire! I would be so scared that someone copied my last post and sent it to the district office to show that teachers were using the computer during school time! I would even have to get some Preparation H because I would be so puckered up!

You guys are having way to much fun! I think it is ok for teachers to use this forum during school time! There is nothing in the handbook that says you can not post messages on forums! I will check with Schoo. Marty do you mind if I use your post as an example? I will not let on that we were talking about religion, which is what got all of this started!

I sense that a lot of this is for fun, and I think we should have some fun, but we have gone beyond good taste as well. I can honestly say that if every teacher were monitored for how they use their computers 24/7, then we would all be in trouble. I don't think it is a big deal to tell you the truth. As much as I do for the district I am in and as little pay as I get, I should get a little flexibility and loyalty from the district. Marty is doing nothing wrong, so let us leave it at that. And the wisecrack about turning anybody in.....That is bunk. I suspect this might be coming from somebody in Lincoln with a beef - well, lay off, Marty didn't turn anyone in! Point Blank.
Time to let the sleeping dog lie and move on....
