Grapplin, you are right! I had heard some guys talking at the clinic about some of this stuff that occured last year! I do not know why Marty has to take the hit on this. To my knowledge,if he had a complaint, he would have talkd to the boys across town!
I do have to disagree with you though on the use of the computer at school. I would very cautious of doing anything on the district's equipment. A friend of mine got fired for sending personal email on the computer. He was passing some jokes around. Nothing too serious. I hope that Lincoln does not have the same type of tracking software! You know how bad that could be!

Yes I agree with that. Everyone does have their say and as I said I am the last person that would want to censor anything. However, I also have to draw a line at some point with when it gets to where personal insults are being thrown back and forth. Everyone has the choice to read or not read posts. However, I don't have that choice as the administrator. Perhaps I'll enlist a few people as moderators if anyone wants to volunteer. You get the cool "moderator" tag by your name.

Grapplinman as far as the sophs go- I just finished up the Class B top 10. We're still about 3 weeks from the season-the schedule should have me getting to the sophs at the end of next week.

When you participate in a forum, you expose yourself to any an all comments. When you step out and share your opinion, then you are creating a "forum" to be supported, opposed, or ridiculed! If the person that is being offended does not like the response that they get, they should be cautious of what they write on these forums. Marty exposed himself by stating his religious beliefs. It looks like some guys had some fun at his expense. Who are we to judge what is true and what is false?

In you latest e-dition, you talk about being supportive and giving up the alliance. Which way are you walking? At NO POINT in my column in last year's final issue did I say ANYTHING about forming an "alliance" against the state's two big dailies. I documented letters to - and the lack of response to said letters from - the OWH. Nothing said about "forming an alliance." In this first column of the year, nothing was said about giving up any alliance - merely that my focus is going to be on what NWI WILL be doing, rather than what they WON'T be doing. Sometimes, when you're so busy banging on what others aren't doing, you can lose focus of what YOU are doing, thus the shift in my personal efforts for covering our sport. I won't, however, stand in the way of those in the wrestling community who want to pick up that gauntlet and run with it. I've simply got bigger fish to fry.

As for the comment about the political office environment...I'm a natural-born rebel and have a natural distaste for the political process in general.

One of the things that makes the REAL Jim Rome (not the impostor who, oddly enough, has been quite silent of late in this forum) the great talent that he is comes from the fact that, when he steps up to the mike or the camera, the man has ALL his ducks in a row. He KNOWS of what he's talking about, and when he's cracking on someone he's doing it from a factual basis. Any time you want to attempt to adapt to this style of trash-talking and can ACCURATELY back up any and all criticism you might have of me, my professionalism, my writing and/or my magazine, please feel free to jump on board.

As a closing thought...I'd like to know at what point I was calling for a physical confrontation, since that is not my style or how I settle situations such as this. You simply are writing checks on this forum that your takes can't cash, so to save yourself further humiliation, take a page from the REAL Jim Rome...have a take, make sure that take doesn't suck or you will get run.

It's my pleasure to have become acquainted with Coach McCurdy through the wrestling arena. He's a class act on and off the mat; an inspiration to his athletes and those that know him. His passion in his spiritual beliefs is as passionate as his love of the sport. I respect his opinions and value his judgement. Thank you for your involvement in Nebraska wrestling.
