i think that there could be an upset at 145. there is no doubt that Etherton will be in the finals, but who he is wrestling is still a question. i havent seen switzer all year, and i dont think that the millard west invite is where he will make his mark. Medina has been doin pretty well this year and i think he has a chance of making it to the finals, but that is as far as he will go.

If all it takes for an extra pound is that one of the teams have a dual the night before, then it's possible, because Grand Island has one on Friday night. Anyone know if that is a hard and fast rule?

How will the new pool format work in a one day 12 team tournament and the 5 match limit?

Millard west has never done the pool format at this tournament. Is this something new that they are doing like the Burke tournament was ran last year? I know that they have usually ran a regular bracket format for the tournament.

This may be wrong, but the way I understand it is they make 4 pools of three wrestlers. Pool 1 will have #1,#12,#8 seeds. Pool 2 #2,#11,#7. Pool 3 #3,#10,#6. Pool 4 #4,#9,#5. They will wrestle the pools as a round robin and then put the winners in a 4 man bracket, the second from each pool in a 4 man bracket, and the third from each pool in a 4 man bracket. Then wrestle them out. If this is right, the 4 in the first bracket will be your 1-4 placers, the winner of the second will be placer5 with the loser placer 6 and the rest get to wrestle more matches. I am not 100% sure this is exactly how it works, but I think it is close. If someone knows for sure please reply. Either way it guarantees more matches to everyone and basically works out the same. I think it will be a good thing.

From a very reliable source i have heard that LT Switzer from westside is not wrestling this year. He told me that he is too burnt out to wrestler anymore. But in the summer time he will still wrestle freestyle and greco-roman.

So is Millard West going to the pool tournament like Burke did last year?

Another good thing about a pool format is that it eliminates forfeits due to wrestlers reaching a 5 match limit.
