Ok, we're skipping Rocky Mountain Nationals and heading back to Kearney, mainly because I promised Scrambler we would be there. Smile

Its been a couple years since we were able to make it back for this meet. Is this the first year they have held the meet at the other arena? Is there any chance that we will get out of there in time to make it back before Easter? Its a 6 hour drive back home for us.

Weigh-ins went smooth, the mat layout looks great. Lots of wrestlers weighing in, looks to be a great tournament.

Good luck to all and safe travels to and from Kearney.

I was very disappointed in the Friday session. Numerous times (at least 25) mats had no brackets and there were 10 minutes between matches. Most timers threw their towels at the referee (a few mats had a person tap the referee – but only a few) – a careless way to run a tournament.

One of our wrestlers didn’t have his first match until 3 hours after the first matches (after 12:30 pm) and he didn’t have a bye.

The facility was great, but the tournament operations were poor. I don’t think we’ll be back next year.

I would like to clarify:
When I say "we", I'm talking about myself and my sons.

IOW, these are my opinions. (how's that for a disclaimer!) Smile

Great tournament !!!!

There was an occasional delay but the tourney was well ran and while smaller than RMN the competition was decent.

I especially enjoyed the fact that the tables and mats were ran by UNK wrestlers and supporters...not by individual clubs (like RMN) which leads to suspicious calls and poor score/timekeeping.

We will be back next year!!!

Are you referring to Friday's or Saturday's (or both)?

I also agree there was great competition from many states. I too, like the table help being the UNK wrestlers. They did a good job. My issues stemmed from the brackets not getting to the tables and the delays resulting from this.

Some of the college wrestlers are not good referees (especially considering the level of competetion). I noticed indecisiveness on several occasions. Although this is a secondary concern.

Yes, Friday was what I was talkin about---(Sat. ain't done yet?)

The college kids weren't perfect, but at least they didn't have a chip on their shoulder and a coach could ask a question.

I thought all things considered, it was a good tournament. That's it.

I heard Saturday went a lot smoother, but I can't believe we were at the same tournament on Friday.

I didn't say anything about anyone having a chip on their shoulder and you're right - coaches could talk to the college refs.

The chip on shoulder comment was not meant to be sarcastic. It was more as a comment meant to compare between other tournaments...
