We don't know the full situation at BE. The kid who is there 112, as I understand from what I am told is really a JV kid who is forced to move up to varsity. I think it was made possible by Phillips moving down? The kid really is more a JV than a varsity wrestler. So, as I look at it, the hard working varsity guy who owned the spot is suspect at best. We also don't know how it is treated by the coach? We are only speculating and then making value judgements like "it stinks." I think this is dangerous. Remember an early post strand where the kids of BE are really sad to see coach Porter go because they love him and respect him? Doesn't sound like a guy with low moral value in the wrestling world? How about the guy who wins not 1 but 2 outstanding coach awards in KS (biggest class)? Sounds like a guy who knows what he is doing? Yet, Big Red and skuttman, you guys seem to be able to make judgements based upon the little you know about the situation. I am anxious to hear the whole story from the horse's mouth. When I find out, I will report back to you all.

Who are you to say who is varsity and who is JV pretending to be varsity? And when does whether you're varsity or JV have anything to do with how hard you work? Are you saying that whenever there is a situation where a guy can beat his teammate a weight class up, that the higher weight guy is really only a "JV" wrestler forced to wrestle varsity because the lighter guy lets him? Sure Phillips can beat David. If the coach had made a strategic decision prior to weigh-ins, it would have been fine, but that's not what happened. My guess is that Matt was allowed to wrestle because he is a senior and his final season is winding down, whereas, David is a freshman and has 3 years left. Seeley's record is 11-8 on VARSITY and 10-3 on JV. He is their varsity 112 pounder.
