I think the dual is set for January 9th in Columbus. We'll see if they are both still unbeaten by that time.

Papio and Columbus met at Bellevue West invite last year, don't know if Columbus will be there this year. It's scheduled for 12/21.

I saw this kid wrestle at the Fremont Invite. He makes everyone look like rag dolls. He totally beat the crap out of everyone in his weight, beating 3 state medalists. He beat Hurst, a very good wrestle, bad. It looked like he wasn't even trying either. Tell me if im correct, vacanti won freestyle and greco nationals?

Yep Vacanti won the whole circuit last year-Freestyle and Greco Nationals, was never even touched-tech falled everyone. Won Tulsa, Reno and Kickoff Classic. I bet the three wrestlers he chewed up wondered what the heck hit them.

Doesnt matter the age group he won it in. Vacanti was the same age as the kids that he beat, no advantage there. Unlike guys like Kohl and Denson that are held back a year and are older entering high school which have a maturity advantage over others.

It is funny that someone would suggest that kids are held back so as to be more mature athletes. This person sounds as if he should have been held back. If you know anything about school attendance laws, kids can enter Kindergarten as late as age 7. Research has shown that these kids are more successful academically and benefit from being at home during those important development years. The state puts a mandatory age limit on 19 year olds so as to not have kids participating against men. If you are so caught up in whether a freshman is 14 or 15, then you have obviously missed the point of fair competition. I would suggest that instead of worrying about the age of someone else’s student athlete, you focus more on preparing your youngsters for life and all of its challenges!

Radar, you are way off the radar screen and missed the point. Someone is trying to knock Vacanti's accomplishments last year by saying they are against younger competition when in fact they are against guys his age. If you truely believe all parents start their kids at a later age because of academics, you are further off the radar screen than I thought. Vacanti's high school accomplishments will be far more impressive since he is young for his grade than those kids that are a year or 2 older in the same grade.

Java you have been in the roaster too long. I am not trying to defend or condone the accomplishments of one wrestler or another. It is a preposterous to think that one could argue a wrestlers accomplishment will be more valued or tarnished by their age. In fact the rules of fair play stipulate that 9th graders can compete with 12th graders in all high school sports. Is there a difference in maturity and development, in most cases yes, but if you have seen some of the freshman this year in some of the upper weights, you would see that these young men are going to be a formidable challenge to their upper classman.
I know of very few people that look at their young 5 year old and then decide to start school when they are 6 because they see great athletic potential. If you ever catch someone admitting that they used athletic prowess to determine the age that their child will enter school, make sure and share their name with the rest of us so that we can all publicly ridicule this person for they have lost perspective on what it right for the child!

How nieve. If you really believe parents dont hold their kids back for athletic reasons you are living in another world. Most parents dont but there are a few who do. Those parents will not admit it either except to close friends. I know of at least 1 who did and maybe more. Wake up and smell the coffee.

You sir, are still spear chucking in the caves off of madagascar! But let us review the facts so that even YOU, oh ancient one, can understand:

The state of Nebraska and all federation associated states have a rule. That you cannot turn 19 before August 1 of your Senior year in order for you to be eligible for competition your Senior year.

To my knowledge, there have not been a handful of athletes who have not met this criteria during their four years of high school.

Of those, I don't know any who did it purposefully. so I am not sure what your point is, Java man, if people are in compliance with the rules and regulations governing age?

Please supply us with specific examples of your hypothesis so we can examine the evidence.

Otherwise, put your nappy furrrrrr rug back on and head out on the hunt once again for fresh meat!

Kohl was held back while at Norfolk and it was because he would have been a 90 pound 103 pounder as a freshman.Believe what you want though. He wouldn't have had acedemic difficulty at all had his dad been as interested in pushing him in both athletics and acedemics.

Yeah, that was that mysterious home schooling that took place between his 7th and 8th grade year. Guess the same can be said of another kid who is being home schooled now, can't remember the name. Anyway, Kohl wrestled as a Senior in high school in good standing, so he didn't violate any rules.

Now Java I would agree with you that some parents do some athletic redshirting in the Middle school years. Those are done for athletic reasons and are wrong. Now if a child is struggling academically and is held out that is fine, and again to support Metro Maniac, if they meet the needs of the state rule and are not 19, what is the problem?

What response have you heard form those you know that have red shirted their kids? Was it worth it?

MATT VACANTI IS THE REAL DEAL, THE KID IS A GREAT WRESTLER, YOU DON'T WIN THE TRINITY AWARD BEING A BAD WRESTLER. HE PRATICES HARDER THAN ANYONE I KNOW. AFTER HIS HIGH SCHOOL PRACTICE HE HAS BEEN GOING TO A PRIVATE PRACTICE WRESTLING WITH A 2 TIME STATE CHAMPION IN CLASS B, JASON KATUSIN.

I HAVE SEEN HIM WRESTLE DENSON,DENSON WON IN OT BUT DENSON SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED FOR STALLING THE WHOLE MATCH. DENSON IS A GOOD WRESTLER I'M NOT KNOCKING ON HIM AT ALL. I BELIEVE THAT MATT WILL BE A WRESTLER TO WATCH FOR A FEW YEARS.

GOOD TRY ON THE OT CALL. NOTICED YOU DIDN'T SAY MUCH ABOUT THE WIN BY DENSON AT FREMONT AND THE WIN BY DENSON AT THE WESTSIDE JR. HIGH TOURNAMENT? USING MY MATH THAT IS 3 DENSON AND 0 VACANTI WHICH WOULD GIVE DENSON THE MYTHICAL NEBRASKA TRINITY AWARD. GUESS VACANTI DIDN'T HAVE TO TRAVEL ALL THAT FAR LAST YEAR TO GET HIS BUTT KICKED! GUESS WE WILL SEE HOW GOOD VACANTI IS WHEN HE WRESTLES VALDEZ, SHERER, AND ETHERTON.
