It's already set up that way per the flier.
If they wrestle at state on saturday they would've weighed in on friday night. That's good for the duals on Sunday. That's why I made the weights the same but deleted a few. Thanks....gotta a team to put up? |

Valentine is trying to put together a 9-12 team as well. We already had some going to Denver but they are thinking about switching to the duals.

We have 6 in both elementary and Middle school. Shooting for 8 in both of those divisions.
Looks like we are going to get at least 6 9th-12th grade teams. Kids have been pretty excited about it. Going to be some good match-ups. Want to put a team together? |

I am assuming that you will have to have a USA card to compete on a high school dual team, correct? If so what is the cost of the card and can it be purchased the day of the duals? Thanks

You can purchase cards on line at
www.nebraskausawrestling.org There will be computers set up to buy on line at the tournament, but there will not be cards for sale at a table...its all on line. Fred |

No...must have individual cards. Team doesn't have to be chartered.

Does anyone else think this dual tournament could of ran better? Team GI spent $485 for 3 teams, not to mention the $322 for USA cards (which by the way...no one even checked to see if we had one on each kid) What a waste of money for that venue. Then only to find out that you could just "add" who ever you wanted to your roster at the last minute the day of the tournament with out weighing in, wish we would've taken our team money and pooled it together and went to another tournament. Good competition in the High School division, but there again...just add who ever you want at the last minute. We could've taken our entire team out for a steak dinner for that price. Never again!!!

Teams where aloud to weigh-in their roster and turn them in at that time. No roster changes should have been made after that. I handed out the rosters based on weigh-ins to each coach and then announced at the coaches meeting that no more wrestlers could be added to the rosters. If teams were adding after that, it should have been caught by the opposing team. I did have one team ask if they could add kids and I told them no. They could wrestle exhibition but it would not count towards team score.
So no....the teams could not just add whoever they wanted. If they did then its your fault for allowing it to happen. That's your responsibility when you are coaching a dual team....just like high school. |

I can support what 525 is saying about the no late adds rule being followed.
We had a wrestler who was on our roster BEFORE we got to the duals. Due to a tournament administrative error, our wrestler did not show up on the initial roster for some reason. We were challenged by another team on this wrestler's participation. In the end, it was a good thing because it forced the matter to be cleared up. I can't speak for the high school division or the 6th through 8th grade division. But, I think I can confidently say that the 3rd through 5th grade division followed the no late add rule. For the most part, I thought that the dual tournament was run better than most USA tournaments that I have been to over the years. Any time that you rely on parents and kids to run your tables, you are bound to have some problems with the clocks and scoring. I'm not being negative about it. It is just a fact. Many parents and other volunteers are usually unfamiliar with operating the clocks and with the scoring. This does lead to some issues once in a while. Our boys had fun and wrestled some good competition. That is what is is all about anyway. All in all I thought the Duals turned out pretty well. Congrats to the Nebraska USA wrestling officials and volunteers for putting on a great state tournament and good state dual tournament. |
