| NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | Ok we're all cool then. Thanks to Team GI for bringing a team in all 3 divisions. It made for a nice event. Your 6-8 team was a pretty good group of kids. I respect your opinions so if you have any suggestions please email me. alphasurveying@qwestoffice.net |
| Novice Registered: May 23, 2007 Posts: 399 | I thought the duals were well ran. I just have one suggestion that I hope will change next year. All of us parents in the stands had no clue as to who was wrestling who. It would be great next year to print off a roster so we all know who is wrestling. Thanks Fred!! |

| State Qualifier Registered: April 05, 2005 Posts: 1120 | Kearney MatCats were open at a couple of weights in the 3-5 grade division, had we had them spots filled it would have been a different story. 1- overweight 1- no show |

I do think that a few things that would make the tournament better is to have more experienced table help (may be a short training in the mornings before the duals) and a venue that is more conducive to fans. I did enjoy the tournament and thought it was worth it. You definately were not going to be able to go to any other tournament and see that level of talent. |
Novice![]() Location: Central City, NE Registered: December 08, 2008 Posts: 254 | Concerning table help: Each team was supposed to supply 2 table workers. I was asked to work for the Central City team. While I was there, CC dualed 3 teams. First, no one else showed up to work for those 3 teams. 2 of us (from CC) did everything and begged others to be our towel boy). Second, there was no training/meeting/instructions. I ran the score/clock and had to figure out how to run this equipment. I'm pretty good and electronics, but could not find a way to switch periods on the wall mounted board. We had 3 coaches & 2 refs in addition to myself but we couldn't figure it out. After the 1st dual, we moved mats and I had different equipment. Some quick training would have been nice. Side note: At one of the duals, another team's coach (to remain nameless) came up to tell us we hadn't updated something quickly enough (we had to keep match score & team score + the normal match stats and run the clock. I said something like "there's only 2 of us. Where are your people?" He said "just ask and we'll get someone to assist". I didn't realize it was my job to ask each dual team to help. I thought each team was to supply 2 people - without being begged by the other's team's table help. This might be something to clarify & enforce at future Dual Tournaments. |

The two of us that worked the tables for CC tried to get some coffee before the first dual started. We were told that since we were volunteer help, we didn't get anything free. Hmmm. I thought it would be the other way around. During the 3rd dual, a young lady came around to us and asked "can I get you guys anything to drink". We asked for a pepsi. One of the host coaches came over and said bluntly "You guys don't get free drinks. You have to pay for that!" Wow! Not a big deal, but if I'm asked to work all day so the tournament doesn't have to pay for table help, the least you could do is give me an occasional drink. Little deal, but it sure set a BIG tone (negative). I doubt I'll work the tables again. |
| Rookie Registered: March 28, 2006 Posts: 161 | Huskerland duals does the same. When I have done this in the past our team took care of us, because we are volunteering for our team. Check with your team maybe they would get you drinks and stuff for helping out. They way we were explained was that by providing the help we kept the costs down for the club entry fee. |

I don't have a problem with this, my point was it would have been nice to have it politely explained instead of having a coach basically holler at this 12 year old girl & us as she was trying to be kind and help us out. |

Everything went smooth for us as well. My point was it would have been nice to have some "does anyone have any questions" meeting. When we couldn't figure out how to change the periods, the Ref went to the head table. No one showed up. We did find out later that the controller we had couldn't change the period. |
| NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | bcdavid We will take care of that for next year. Point noted and its a good idea for table help meeting before we start. Thanks. |
| Rookie Registered: July 11, 2008 Posts: 97 | I was fortunate to work the tables in the high school division for Team GI for 3 of the 5 matches. I had a great time and I figured out that the refs are very nice and understanding and all you have to do is ask when in doubt of the score. It was a fun day and I would do it again. I got lucky enough to work with a Class "A" 130 lb state champion. Thanks, Carlos for helping me. |
