I know that Louisville and Rushville are the favorites for class D. But there are other teams in the race too. Weeping Water and Amherst both have very talented teams also. Don't over rate Louisville and Rushville and under rate everyone else. I think it will be closer than eveyone thinks it will be in the end.

was that Amherst was actually leading Rushville at one point Saturday, but the Longhorns' depth was enough in the end to overcome it and win their second straight D title.
As it usually is, the champ is the lead dog until someone knocks them off the porch, but I think Louisville, Howells, Winside and Weeping Water are teams that will make an impact. Many times, Class D comes down to depth even more so than talent, so whoever can load up at districts and get 5-6-7 through to at least third-round consolations are going to be the ones who are in the hunt on Saturday. |

Weeping Water is returning 8 of 9 state qualifiers, and only 2 of those 8 are seniors!! There were two other underclassmen that should have qualified also!! Their team may have the dpth to knock of Rushville and Louisville at state!!

The one variant this year is there are a lot of teams that have 4-5 state qualifiers returning and these are the schools that can wreak havoc on the powerhouses. I am not saying these teams will be in the top 2, but they could do some damage, Curtis Medicine Valley, Howells, Pope John, East Butler, Axtell, and the list goes on and on.

I dont necessarily want to put pressure on them but I believe Howells will be tough down the stretch. They will have an open weigh or two and a weak weight or two but come districts and state they'll be right there. My guess is 6 0r 7 medalists in Lincoln with a good probability of 2 to 3 finalists. They'll be in the toughest district so could lose a kid or so but teams out of those districts w/7 or 8 qualifiers tend to score better than teams who qualify 10 or more out of an easy district.

Rushville will win, there is no question about it, and those who say that there is are only kidding themselves, too much power and too balance for anybody to contend with. GET REAL.

Whoever wrote that comment about Howells should type all the people that they think will place at state and the three supposible finalists they will have at state this year. I want to hear who these studs are. I know that craig brester and mike bier could possoble be in the finals but who is the third guy?

If you read the post I said 6 or 7 medals with 2 to 3 finalists.I'll use your Brester and Mike Bayer, for 2 and then you have Scotty Bayer,Dostal,Steven Bazata at hvy. and a couple others who could rise to the occassion.Other tough kids are Jakubowski and even Derek Schroeder.

Freudian slip Coach? What weight bracket will Derek Schroeder be this year, in Norfolk? Sorry, can't remember his brother's first name in Howells.

Sorry to say, that wasn't a slip.Derek moved to Howells to live with his Dad a couple weeks ago.Mixed feelings as we'll miss him but I believe it is a good move for Derek.I'm guessing he'll try to go 160.Above that and I dont believe he has much chance at varsity. Also heard Justin Brester is healing up and should be back to his old form.
Just got back from Lincoln where I watched the Bobcats win their third straight D1 Football title.Lots of football talent there.Mike Bayer was a 1 man wrecking crew plus, had a long TD run, and Bazata played well also. |

1. Rushville
2. Louisville 3. Medicine Valley 4. Weeping Water 5. Sargent 6. East Butler 7. Winside 8. Howells 9. Amherst 10. Pope John Top 5 should be these 5 teams, not necessarily in this order. Who ends up where depends on what kids make what weight. Top 4 teams will all send 8 wrestlers to Lincoln |

Here is my preseason Top 10 list.
1. Rushville 2. Lousville 3. Winside 4. Howells 5. Weeping Water 6. Medicine Valley 7. East Butler 8. Amherst 9. Pope John 10. Newman Grove/Greeley-Wolbach/Sargent This will come down to which team qualifies the most wrestlers out of the tough D-2 district. I see this as a wide open race with any team having a chance if Rushville or Lousville falters on the first day at State. |

Axtell has not had a good wrestling team for a long time that is true. Just because Amherst got second means nothing. They lost Klingelhoefer, and a huge class of seniors. WHERE DID YOU GET ELM CREEK FROM? ALL THEY HAVE IS HAYS! Just wait until Axtell is in some tournaments with the teams you have posted you will see how dominant Axtell is this year. If Axtell gets the amount of wrestlers into the state tournament as expected they might have a chance to give rushville competition.
1.Rushville/Axtell 2.Rushville/Axtell 3.Louisville |

OK, you guys will have a good team this year that will probably finish in the Top 10, but there is no way that you will be able to compete with the likes of Rushville or Louisville so just drop it since all that you are doing is making yourself sound stupid.

I sorry to break it to you but your team has no chance. I have seen many of the wrestlers from these teams and all of the teams that most have in their top team will destroy you. I believe that Amherst sees you at the Axtell invite and not to make any predictions, but i foresee them beating you. Their only problem may be depth. Also as soon as you see the Rushville or Lousiville guys they will make you cry if you didn't already know. I realize that this year is possibly the best ever for axtell but you will never see a top ten finish at State let alone a trophy. If anyone else knows when those axtell guys see some decent compition feel free to let AxtellWrestler know how bad they will get beat.
