Wow...and I thought my ex-wife was bitter about losing the Best of James Taylor CD in the divorce.
First off...thanks for catching the final score error. That has been corrected and updated. When you're typing in all those results AND trying to beat a deadline, mistakes sometimes happen. As far as the pictures go, I tried taking a representative shot of each of the five college programs, taking into account ONLY the college that they were representing. It's hard enough trying to keep track of that many wrestlers (over 600, a record for the tournament) and bouncing around between 12 mats without also trying to remember which high school they graduated from, how many high school state titles they won and whether they had a date for their senior prom or went stag. As far as the bias toward Omaha Gross or ANY OTHER high school program in this state, I would ask you this: what does Omaha Gross - or any of the other 215 high school programs in the state of Nebraska - have to do with one college wrestling tournament? There were two Ord wrestlers there, a number from Kearney High, and many more from different parts of the state. Was I showing bias toward those programs as well by not writing about their matches? And obviously you don't know me or how I operate at all, because I try and treat EVERY wrestler, EVERY coach and EVERY program in an equal manner. I can't EXCLUSIVELY cover EVERY wrestling program in the state individually. There are only 24 hours in a day, 7 in a week, etc., and the ENTIRE WRESTLING COMMUNITY gets my absolute best effort, regardless of whether or not their wrestler or program is on top of the world or struggling to stay alive in tough economic times. I have a tremendous working relationship with Chris Blair - as I do with the vast majority of the coaches in the state - and it goes without saying that Omaha Gross' program is one of the state's best regardless of class. The number of Gross kids to go on and wrestle in college speaks volumes about the program, and sometime down the road I just might do a feature story on the Cougars' program. Unfortunately for you, you won't get to read it because you claim you won't be checking out the website in the future...and you know what? That's your right. You're an American citizen. You have the freedom to read - or not to read - whatever trips your trigger. I'm not going to hold a gun to your head and force you to read NWI, so if you don't want to read it that's your gig. |

It seems that Mickey Mouse is at it again! Another example of real wrestling, real coverage!

Looking forward to seeing your work, Jim. In fact, I think EVERYBODY is looking forward to seeing what you've got. Better get off the forum and get to work. Deadlines have a tendency to creep up on us all...

Give me an idea of what you need some coverage of!

...you come up with the story. You're so busy banging me and my magazine and saying you've got a story to write, and then you come BEGGING for a topic to write about? Brilliant! Hilarious! Sad!
I've got more important things to do than hold your hand and lead you to a story. You know so much about wrestling and writing? It's time to put up or shut up. Obviously, you can't do either one very well. Tick, tick, tick...eight days and counting. |

HB and I will do what we do and support the wrestling community, while you and your life partner will stand on the sidelines and criticize like the myopic wannabes that you are. Boy...am I ever glad that I'm not going to have to change what I do just to please a couple of nitwits such as yourself and he who wishes he were one-tenth as intellligent, witty and insightful as Jim Rome.
Since you talked it over and decided you're not going to send anything in, this just proves a very simple point...YOU CAN'T BACK YOUR SMACK UP. You resort to third-grade name-calling (Nit Wit Ignant? Geez...my 9-month-old nephew runs better smack than THAT) and make a lot of noise that, in the end, signifies nothing. If all you can do is bang a guy for his height and make empty threats...well...then you two just aren't worth the time OR effort. Nice job, Dippy....er, er...Daffy. As for who wins...it would appear you two have given up. It's called conceding defeat, and you've just done it. Now go away...buh bye. |

Hmmm I think daffy and JR must be the same person. Well at least they use the same ISP Internet Allegiance. Maybe I'll just forward that post threatening to hack a UBB owned system over to abuse@algx.net. Then I'll let the lawyers for UBB and algx figure out what they want to do with you.

If you don't like the site, stay off of it. Let the rest of us who enjoy NWI, and Huskermat.com read the comments, make the comments, etc.

I've got an idea. Let's just all boycott any postings by the alleged "Jim Rome" and "Daffy". Let them spew to their hearts content, but we don't open any posts made by them. Maybe then they will find someone else to annoy.

I can't beleive the smack I read from the first post in this string and the comments of "JR" and "Daffy". What NWI and HB have done these past two years to elevate the coverage and awareness of Nebraska wrestling is incredible. Obviously JR & Daffy realize how well respected NWI's coverage is, by the intellegent wrestling community (which they are not a part of), otherwise they wouldn't get so bent out of shape!

The only thing I've tried to accomplish with NWI is to give the wrestling community the kind of coverage that it deserves. What Ross and I have been able to do, if I may toot my own horn a sec here, is to beat the "big boys" at their own game and put more of the spotlight on our wrestlers.
This sort of thing doesn't happen without a tremendous amount of support, and 99 percent of the coaches, wrestlers and fans out there have been sooooo supportive of what's been done between the two entities. To be honest...there's no NWI without the people who have downloaded it and tossed the positive vibes our way. If it wasn't read and appreciated the way it's been...well, I'm not one to continue beating a dead horse. Another thing that I think has been accomplished by what Ross and I have done is that, I believe, we're going to see some kind of change in how the OWH covers the sport. Craig Sesker has been given the prep wrestling beat (and from what I hear, Stu is none too happy about it, which is ironic when you consider he's so anti-wrestling it's stupid) and he's done a fantastic job with college wrestling. If he can get the powers that be to pony up and give the sport more ink, you're going to see them do a much better job with the sport in the future. Of course, when you're successful at doing something new and different, you are invariably going to get your a-holes who want to try and bring you down. Such is the price of success, and you can either let it get to you or you can keep swinging and keep proving them wrong. I can't speak for Ross's future, but I know that I'm going to be dragged away from this venture kicking, screaming and clawing. And with comments such as yours and the positive response we've gotten, I don't think that's going to be a problem. Thanks again! |
