I agree that Sutton is far and away the class of this weight. He's not the flashiest or most entertaining wrestler I've ever seen but he is solid fundamentally and looks like a horse. I think that Nebraska's youth has progressed a great deal over the past twenty years, however, we still don't push the fundamentals the way PA and OK do. I think that is the main reason wrestlers from those states do so well on the collegiate level. Every match comes down to a few points, riding time forces you to be solid on top and bottom, and kids have to work their ties to get take downs.

Does anyone know how Sutton did at State last year?

Last year Sutton got 4th at State. He seperated his shoulder in the semi's and attempted to wrestle back in consolations but wasn't the same.

At Cornhusker State Games, McCurdy was putting Sutton on his back, but started bleeding. Other than that, it was neck and neck all match long. These two would split a series of 10 matches.

Pat Breitkreutz is 152, he just hasn't wrestled it yet. May is very good, wrestles smart.

To date, I think that the Sutton of Wahoo and Janovich of Gretna are the two best wrestlers in Class B. Gretna looks like they might place rather high at State. It hurts that Skutt, Gretna, Gross, Wahoo, Schuyler, etc. are all in the same districts because it keeps teams from bringing a full line-up.

First off, I think Purdy (Valentine) is a fine wrestler who will definetly place in the top 4 in Class B 160, however, Purdy can't be placed on this list because he has lost to Kenner (Ainsworth) and to Sanders (Chadron). In Class B alone, the consensus seems to be that Sutton is #1, then you have to place Sanders above Purdy. After that there is a solid argument that Janovich(Gretna) has been better thusfar.

In theory you are correct. But looking at results and being at the matches are two totally different things. First off Kenner is in class C so he doesn't even matter. Second Purdy had Sanders pinned in their first match this year, but Jansen didn't call the pin. Which he later apolagized for. Then in Gordon Sander's stalled the entire match only to have a third year ref not have the melons to call it. Then Hoopman and Sander's both showed great sportsmanship by apologizing to Purdy after the medal presentation. I have been to these matches and I have seen Purdy out wrestle Sanders twice now and there is no doubt in my mind that in Feb. he will finish in the top 2 at Devaney

Deano-

Thankyou for informing me as to the circumstances surrounding the Sanders match. I would like to show you my reasoning for keeping Purdy off this list. I felt that each classes best wrestler should be represented on list, however, Class C seems to be the deepest Class at 160 and the clear favorite is not easily determinable. If the Ord and Chase County wrestlers happen to be better than Kenner it seems logical that they should be placed above Purdy who was clearly beaten by Kenner. Also, I believe Sutton (Wahoo) is the clear favorite in Class B. The only time I have watched Purdy wrestle was at state last year where he lost handedly to Peterson from LoganView and needed overtime to beat Vollmer of Nebraska City. Sutton on the other hand beat Risseuw of Valentine by a score of 16-6. Risseuw has recently established himself as the clear favorite to win 171. Also, Sanders and Slaughter were in the same weightclass as Sutton and failed to place, whereas Sutton got 4th only because he defaulted due to an injury against a wrestler he beat at districts. If Sutton is in fact better than Purdy then the point is mute because then he can't be the best wrestler in the state. Even if he is better than Sutton then the Class C champ has to be placed above Purdy due to results against similar opponents.

Weakest Weight,
How can you not put Miles Marshal in your cute little poll? I guess it's ok though, cause when he beats mccurdy AGAIN, and the platform is out, and everyone's getting there medals, and Miles is at the top gettin the gold, you all will know what i mean.
