Is it 135...or 112...or does someone have any other ideas?

In terms of depth it has to be 125. If you mean winners from each class then it would be different.

A- Rutledge, McNeal, Wiemann
B- Rotella, Hayek, Palamo
C- Tillema, Daro, Pickett, Pokorny
D- Rucker, Hunter, Hays, Dostel

I'm partial to your 125 picks but I'd also throw in 135.

I would say the toughest weight in Class A is 135.
Kruger, Ayala, Hinn, Sheard, Letchi, Shave, Heiliger could all potentially place at state. In the A-1 District alone you are looking at Hinn, Sheard, Kruger, Schave, and Heiliger. Talk about stacked.

Baughman looked really good this weekend. Holden Barry of Adams Central also seems to be wrestling well with his 11-3 win over Marsh. Dennis of Lexington beat Reha. Pulte and Svendson I am unsure of, I'm sure they are both good wrestlers. We will see Reha and Hurst next weekend at Seward so I guess I can tell you more after that. All of this just makes you want an all class tournament. Then we wouldn't have to say one wrestler was better than another from a different class.

would truly be outstanding, however, it will never happen to the extent that we would all like to see it. Not everyone would attend, stay in shape, be willing to cut the same amount of weight or be wiiling to risk the state title that they worked so hard to attain. However, if you are all gung-ho about finding out who the real deal is, let's just drop the 4-class system and go with one class. I read on here all the time about Class A dissin' on C and D schools and then the C and D guys fighting back with their statements. Caution to the wind, I say and lets put it all on the line. What an amazing state tourney that would pit two guys with 30-1 records in the first round! Before you say no way and so on, ponder these facts:
California has a few more people than us, but only one class in wrestling. Illinois has two, Iowa has three. Take a look at the Iowa state brackets sometime. You won't find many (if any) wrestlers with double digit losses. Never happen, but worth the thought......

I agree that three classes would ensure quality wrestling come State. I don't think one class is the way to go. If anyone has every watched highschool wrestling in California they know that the quality of wrestling simply isn't the same. There are elite wrestlers and teams, however, the depth and quality is sub-par. Wrestling is never going to compete with basketball or even football players who train year round for one sport in that state.

How do you keep track of all these stats? Just curious since you seem to know alot about what's going on.

Just by looking at rankings and watching the tournaments closely for good matches and things like that, its not too hard.
