Where are all the Skutt wrestlers? Sackett, Cottle, Kottas, Chavez, Cardenez and Muschall?

Three Skutt wrestlers were selected and two declined. Cottle is wrestling. The web master made a mistake omitting him. I am checking into it and have not heard back yet. One of the guidelines for selecting teams is to only select a maximum of two wrestlers on a team. All things considered I felt we were very fair to Skutt.

What people don't realize is that there are a lot of wrestlers who were asked and turned us down for whatever reason? It is not easy to get a team put together but I think the coaches from both the east and west have done a good job and we will be able to see some good wrestling on Saturday.

Never said it wsn't fair just wondering where the Skutt wrestlers are. I really don't understand the rule of limiting the number of wrestlers from a HS if it is going to have the name All-star attached to it?

I said guideline not rule. There is a difference. The most important thing is for the coaches to nominate their wrestlers. Those guys usually get first consideration if they are deserving. All guys on both teams are very well deserving.

I have seen in the past where you can ask to wrestle other guys. I am sure if you asked the coaches they would ablidge. Then maybe you will not be so p'd off. |

Did his coach nominate him? Did anybody other than his coach know that he was even able to wrestle after his season ending injury? If he was nominated and not picked, that is one thing. If he wasn't nominated and nobody knew he could even wrestle, that is another. |

I think it is a great idea to show case the states best seniors against each ohter hopefully all the coaches are behind the competition and are nominating their wrestlers.

Thank you wrestle05, I agree. This wonderful sport thrives in Nebraska because of the "givers" and not because of the "takers." It's not just about my kid, it's about everybody's kids. A big thanks to all the coaches and volunteers that give more to the sport than take from it.

First off, what does Warner Phipps have to do with being selected?
Second he was nominated at 141 but now you are here whining that he isn't wrestling 157? |

wrestle05 learn how to read I never once complained about the Skutt kids not getting picked I asked a simple question. But if this is a true All-Star competition then I would hope that everything is being done to get the best wrestlers invited and competing.

RJS, your boy had a great high school career. Hope to see him there this weekend. If not, good luck to him in the future!

RJS, I was very sorry to see your son end his season early this year with an injury. I have been in your shoes and understand how you felt. I am also sorry to see the misunderstanding about the selection of wrestlers.
I cannot give a 100% answer for the West coaches, but I can say they did an excellent job and you can never please everyone. From what I understand Warner Phipps and Carson Hemmann were selected for 157 lbs. Both are state champions and your son was nominated for this same weight class. Your son is a great wrestler, but it would be difficult to pass up on two state champions. Phipps accepted, but later had to drop out for personal reasons. The problem was it was very late. I do know all weights were filled with two wrestlers on both teams. The empty spots are late drops. The East team had three drop in the past week and we were scrambling to find replacements. All that dropped were very sorry to have dropped, but all had other family obligations come up. I am sure the same happened to the West team. |
