AWESOME!!!! TOTALLY, FREAKIN', AWESOME!!!!
I remember where that program was when Marc took over, and to come from there to being the bridesmaid 2-3 times and now, finally, they've made it all the way to the top. Congrats to the Bauer family, the UNK family and the Lopers on the national title. You guys are deserving of the title. Enjoy it like none other!!! It was nice to watch each Nebraska school pull for the other in the finals unless they were head up. The wierd thing is UNK wins by 0.5 and yesterday MSU got dinged 0.5 for a kid throwing his headgear. Pays to keep your cool kid, you just cost your team a national title.
Congrats Kearney from UNO This message has been edited. Last edited by: The Observer, "Winners find a way to win and Losers find a way to lose." |

Nebraska Wrestling has alot to be proud of 3 great D-II schools, 5 Ind. Nat. Titles, 1 OW, and 1 Most Falls, & Coach of the Year.
What a weekend! I can't wait until Wed. to get to St. Louis and watch the Huskers make their run at History! One Grin for each Title!

Mr. Twister - You are right about the Nebraska fans cheering for each other! A great rivalry has developed into mutual respect for each other. Four years ago I think it would have been heresy to stand and clap for each other's wins! I was very disappointed with the World Heralds report that Denson "could" be happy to take a point away from UNK in spite of placing 7th. Denson is way more classy than that - I believe that he just went out and got one more win. The way he related to McCurdy following the match looked more like they were friends rather just completing a grudge match for revenge. I am quick to add that there were no quotes in the short World Herald piece, only conjecture. Everyone should know that both Denson and McCurdy are top-drawer class acts both on and off the mat!
Consulting the team reports on the website did not indicate any team point deductions for Minn Mankato. Are you sure that there was a deduction or rather did you (like me) observe the behavior and conclude that there should be a deduction that was not signaled by the referee? |

Totally awesome. It is great to see the three Nebraska teams do so well. It is disappointing to not be able to see it on some college sports network out of somewhere.
Nevertheless, fabulous performance by all Lopers as well as UNO and Chadron. |

Just as you said an observation that I and most of our fans thought there was a point taken aay. Everyone was saying it but if you did not see it in writing then I guess it never happened but should have. Oh well bad reproting on my part. And you are also right about Denson being a classy act. One great kid that was just competing and doing the best he can. Any ideas about both UNK and UNO lineups next year? This message has been edited. Last edited by: The Observer, |

I think UNO may have the best returning line-up in Division II. They only lose Wahle. I see their line-up being:
125- Whoever they can bring in to replace Garcia 133- Garcia 141- Bribieseca 149- Meneely 157- Dominguez (If he is big enough) 165- Denson 174- Taplin 184- Boehm 197- Marrs 285- Lewis |

You making a pretty big assumption in taking Boehm over Pankoke. Either way it is a nice problem to have. They will also have two qualifiers in Rau and Morgan back. I would assume both would have to bump up and challenge at 141. Their line up is stacked anyway you look at it and they are definately the favorites. The Lopers lose quite a bit of firepower but should still have a competitive line up. My guess without recruits/transfers: 125 Abril 133 Morrison 141 ?? 149 ?? 157 Etherton -AA 165 McCurdy -AA or May 07 AA 174 Usman -AA 174/184 Sutton -2X Qual 184 Farrell AA 07?? 197 Ross AA or Empting AA 07 Hwt Webber or Empting ?? |

Thanks to all of those who welcomed us home today it was amazing to see hundreds of people there when we got home. Nothing is concrete yet but I am sure we will have some kind of special recognition this weekend at the Midwest Classic.
As many of you know we have come a long way from nearly being dropped all the way to a championship team. Part of all of our hard work that has enabled us to build our team into one of the D2 powerhouse programs is our commitment to fundraise and not to complain about what is given to us and rather to go out and earn everything we have. I have always thought that when you have to make sacrifices to reach your goals it is that much sweeter when you win the ultimate prize. I hope to see all of our nebraska wrestling community here this weekend to get some great competition and also to help us celebrate our schools FIRST EVER NCAA Championship!!! for more info on the tourney see www.midwestclassicwrestling.com |

I like UNO '09 like this: 125 Morgan (rSo)/Garcia (rJr) 133 Garcia/Morgan 141 Bribieseca (rJr) 149 Meneely (rJr) 157 Dominguez (rFr)/Rau (rSo) 165 Denson (rSo) 174 Taplin (Sr) 184 Boehm (rSo)/Pankoke (Jr) (or visa versa) 197 Pankoke/Marrs (Jr) (good time to redshirt) 285 Lewis (Sr) everyone of those names is a NQ or AA...I think the recruits are 285 and 149...Morgan would go down before going up and be better at 125...but Garcia would be a small 133 but he is very good...Rau is growing and so is Dominguez I bet...Pankoke and Boehm have to be in the mix...Marrs has yet to redshirt so that could happen to... UNO will be good for 2 years with this group... This message has been edited. Last edited by: The Observer, |
