An interesting story about SP:
A couple of years ago when he was trying to weasel himself out of the mess he created when people he thought would just jump at the chance to coach at NU but then nobody of note really stepped up......... Anyway, when he was giving his press conference and answering reporters' questions about who was contacted, how much was offered, how many people were interested in the job, etc., we were sitting with a wrestler's dad who is also a state patrolman and has 15 or more years experience in detaining and interrogating people. He's an expert in body language, word choice, voice inflection, etc. Despite SP's lack of personality, voice inflection, and overall appeal, the officer was able to point out about 12 instances where SP was lying. Now, I'm sure the dad wasn't correct about all 12, but I'd give him the odds that he was right about SP at least half of the time. Pathetic.

Slvrhawk...I watched that press conference in its entirety, and by the second question I was fairly well convinced that Peterson was a lying sack of dog bombs. He was spinning like a top then, and he's spinning now. I've had to stop watching TV every time he comes on because of the dizzy spells it brings on. The last time I got that dizzy was when I rode the Tilt-A-Whirl at the carnival.

Part of an AD's job is sugar coating things for the people to keep fans paying money to see whats next

Maybe at Pitt...but Nebraska fans tend to be more receptive to leaders who are honest and straightforward to them. That's a lot of the reason why Dollar Bill Byrne was banged on in the 90's. There's an old saying...it doesn't matter how many rose petals you cover it with...a pile of crap is still a pile of crap.

Considering the current results...not much of an exaggeration.

SO404 I just love reading what you write because it is the truth. Tom Osborne hamstrung Bill Byrne from doing the right thing which would have been a national search for a qualified HC, instead we got Frank and this past season was a result of Franks regime, not Bill Callahans. SP did the right thing.

Peterson has attended MAYBE two duals since coming here and, quite frankly, wrestling was already in good shape prior to his arrival (as the development of those kids into what is now the No. 3 team in the country can attest). As far as m/w basketball...they had noplace else to go BUT up. And track and field has been among the nation's best for about as long as I can remember. Isn't it interesting that NONE of those sports S0404 mentioned are coached by people who were hired by SP and all are (or likely, will be) having success this season??? Hmmm....makes you wonder...

So NWI do you honestly think that Frank Solich had our football program going in the right direction. Do you honestly think he would have closed the talent gap between us and other top tier schools. Do you honestly think that going 16-12 over your last 28 games (please remember this is Nebraska football, not Kansas or Iowa State football) is acceptable because if you do then you are not a true fan!

Steve Pederson has been a huge motivator since taking over the A.D. position...most Nebraska fans are now motivated to shower him with BOOS when he makes public appearances. That tells us what most people think of his performance thus far. He obviously hasn't "sugar coated" the situation enough for most NU fans.

Was at the Outland Trophy Award presentation last night in Omaha. (Jamal Brown OU) Brown was introduced by position coach Wilson & head coach Stoops. (BC & SP there also) When Stoops came to the microphone he got a standing O from the audience. When BC was introduced he got a shall we say "polite" response. It was quite a telling moment & you could tell that it made Stoops a little uncomfortable.

the only answer i get when i ask why people dont like SP is "He didnt treat ole franky right", What is the right way to fire someone that tells you to "just do it like a man"?

This whole hate SP thing is all from the media biases that have been coming out from everywhere ever since SP ripped the LJS about the "anonymous booster"

Regardless of "why" people distrust and dislike Pederson, this states public perception of him is not good. I predict NU will have a new AD when SP's contract expires.
