Applington-Parkersburg High School is a small school in Northeast Iowa. Like most small towns in the Midwest they have a great deal of civic pride. Like most small schools in the Midwest they love their football. They are a little bit unique in that they have 4 starters in the NFL. They are all lineman, which gives you an idea of the size of the people who live there. This spring their high school and much of Parkersburg was destroyed by a tornado, which killed 8 of their townspeople. Watch the NFL video and read the story from ESPN, The Magazine and you will be proud that you live in the Midwest.

The "Football helps Iowa town recover from tornado" story is located at http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3454225 The magazine article quotes a coach from Firth Norris High School here in Nebraska which was hit by a tornado a few years ago. Is that you, Vegas Kid? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Frank Ryan, |
