Varsity Letterman![]() Location: Nebraska Registered: October 21, 2002 Posts: 980 | I have read them, and some people have had some very good observations. My job is to watch the news and to try to give my classes the information as objectively as possible. That being said, here are just a few things I think--in my own opinion--you will see in the next year or so: Bush wins the election, but the outcome won't be decided for sure until around Thanksgiving. (Public backlash over the lawsuits cause the Dems to back down) At least two major terrorist attacks in the world in 2005, but none on American soil. The U.S. public will start to become apathetic again towards the idea of a domestic terroristic attack. Osama bin Ladin will not be captured, but killed in 2005, probably in the streets of some city in Pakistan. Weapons of mass destruction will ultimately be found in Iraq. Stock market goes up, while oil prices level out. No one in this country is really complaining that loudly, so the government sees no reason to put pressure on our "allies" in the Middle East to lower oil prices. The number of illegal immmigrants in the U.S. will double. Saddam Hussein and Yasser Arafat will both die while in "protective custody" in 2005. At least two Nebraska assistant coaches will be fired at the end of this season. Spurrier will be named Florida's new head coach and Bo Pelini will become his new defensive coordinator. Spurrier's first recruit that he lands: Harrison Beck. Burke in A (I'm biased), Skutt in B, Aquinas in C, Howells in D Red Sox repeat, defeating the Philadelphia Philles in seven games (okay, the Phillies even making the playoffs are a huuuuuuuuuuuge stretch, but after "allegedly" attending all those Ralph Nader rallies, I believe anything is possible) The Cody-Kilgore junior high boys' basketball team wins conference for the 11th time in 12 years. As NWI always says, "that's my rant and I'm sticking to it" Can I get at least one BLING and a "rack 'em" from ya, LATE? |
World Champion![]() Location: Wayne, America Registered: October 20, 2002 Posts: 5714 | OK, Lance...Here's my 10 cents (to adjust for inflation): -- Bush wins the election, but the outcome won't be decided for sure until around Thanksgiving. (Public backlash over the lawsuits cause the Dems to back down) Honestly, I think Bush wins with a comfortable enough spread that the Democrats would seriously damage whatever remaining credibility they might have in this country. I'm sitting listening to Alan Colmes' verbal diahrrea on Hannity and Colmes, and if this is the best voice the liberal left has...Jeb Bush will follow his brother in 2008-2016 (and considering the alternative may be Hillary Clinton Rodham, that ain't really so bad, is it?) Having Allen Colmes AND Michael Moore as your chief media mouthpieces is kind of like having Baylor and Northwestern as your pool picks for the college football BCS. -- At least two major terrorist attacks in the world in 2005, but none on American soil. The U.S. public will start to become apathetic again towards the idea of a domestic terroristic attack. I think, until Al Qaeda-Jazzera released their golden boy's latest video, there WAS a palpable level of apathy toward another terrorist attack within our borders. By releasing this video, he has rendered the Thanksgiving prediction of your previous point moot...and he may have tipped the election Bush's way by doing it. -- Osama bin Ladin will not be captured, but killed in 2005, probably in the streets of some city in Pakistan. Better yet...let's capture the guy and drop him off at the site of the WTC and let nature take its course, if you know what I mean (and I think you do...). -- Weapons of mass destruction will ultimately be found in Iraq. They already have...or were they shipped out by Saddam? Or Fed Ex? I'm confused... -- Stock market goes up, while oil prices level out. No one in this country is really complaining that loudly, so the government sees no reason to put pressure on our "allies" in the Middle East to lower oil prices. As somebody who is preparing to put another 25-30K on the vehicle, you do not want to get me started on those greedy camel jockeys...ER, ER...Middle East petroleum gurus. Grrrrr.... -- The number of illegal immmigrants in the U.S. will double. And White Anglo Saxon Protestant males will officially drop to minority status...but don't look for the National Association for the Protection of White Heterosexual Males to get started anytime soon. -- Saddam Hussein and Yasser Arafat will both die while in "protective custody" in 2005. The way Arafat is going right now, he may not make it to Thanksgiving. Praise be to Allah... -- At least two Nebraska assistant coaches will be fired at the end of this season. And one Athletic Misdirector...at least, we can hope on the AD thing... -- Spurrier will be named Florida's new head coach and Bo Pelini will become his new defensive coordinator. Spurrier's first recruit that he lands: Harrison Beck. And his first slammed visor will take about three plays into the spring game. -- Burke in A (I'm biased), Skutt in B, Aquinas in C, Howells in D Millard South in A...no argument on the rest of them. -- Red Sox repeat, defeating the Philadelphia Philles in seven games (okay, the Phillies even making the playoffs are a huuuuuuuuuuuge stretch, but after "allegedly" attending all those Ralph Nader rallies, I believe anything is possible) Red Sox AND Phillies??? Less time in Whiteclay, Lance...LESS time in Whiteclay. -- The Cody-Kilgore junior high boys' basketball team wins conference for the 11th time in 12 years. JUNIOR HIGH basketball???? | <whatrockis> | Funny how we complain about how Al-Jazzera is biased towards the middle-east, but the middle-east complains that Al-Jazzera is biased towards the Americans. Odd. |
| Varsity Letterman Location: Stanton, NE Registered: December 18, 2002 Posts: 919 | And I have one more to add to the list...Wayne State College still won't have a wrestling program even though it is located in the heart of wrestling country. Ever hear of the coach that couldn't coach his wrestler out of a wet paper bag; I was coaching the wet paper bag. |
Varsity Letterman![]() Location: Nebraska Registered: October 21, 2002 Posts: 980 | Whatrockis...agree totally...how can Al-Jazeera be the voice of BOTH the West and the Middle East??? Two more predictions...Mikey C will go to a taping of the Oprah Winfrey show in Chicago, she will take pity on him and give him a free car like she did everyone else. "Little" Mikey Wurdinger will still be pounding on Twdinger. |
