Yesterday on the Daily Show, they showed Senator Tom Coburn (R) of Oklahoma (this explains a lot already) talking at a confirmation hearing for John Roberts. Here's what he said:
"When I ponder our country and its greatness, its weaknesses, its potential, my heart aches for less divisiveness, less polarization, less finger-pointing, less bitterness, less mindless partisanship which, at times, sounds almost hateful to the ear of Americans." Perhaps he's speaking of the divisiveness, polarization, bitterness, mindless partisanship, and hatefulness that can be created by these comments: "The gay community has infiltrated the very centers of power in every area across this country, and they wield extreme power. That agenda is the greatest threat to our freedom that we face today. Why do you think we see the rationalization for abortion and multiple sexual partners? That's a gay agenda." He, of course, made these comments last year. What a phony. They then showed him doing a crossword puzzle during other's speeches. Pretty funny (but disappointing) stuff. Congratulations, Oklahoma! |
