*Eating crow*...man Pittsburg's "D" stepped up and played insane yesterday. 4 TO's (including one for a score), gave the offense the short field a couple times and the Steelers cashed in. Rothelisberger looked very poised and comfortable, it certainly helped they were at home. I'm looking forward to a great game v. Philly. Whoever is at home wins...plain and simple, Philly was able to beat one of the best secondaries with sheer passing alone. However, Philly's "D" will need to step up for the Eagles to win this week.

HEIZ FIELD IS THE LOCATION OF THIS SHOWDOWN. ONE THING WE FORGOT TO MENTION WAS THE CROWD YESTERDAY. THEY REMINDED ME OF THE CROWDS THAT TURNED OUT DURING THE CHAMPIONSHIP YEARS. ON ANOTHER SUBJECT FOR MY FAVORITE COLLEGE TEAM, THE HUSKERS DEFENSE PLAYED INSPIRED THIS WEEKEND. I WENT TO THE GAME AND THEY WERE FLYING AROUND THE FIELD. I THINK A BIG REASON FOR THIS WAS THE INSPIRATIONAL TALKS THEY RECEIVED FROM THE 94 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM AND THE WAY THE CROWD GOT INTO THE GAME. IT WAS AWESOME TO WATCH IN PERSON. MEMO TO COACH CALLAHAN: MAYBE YOU COULD BRING IN AND INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKER FOR THE OFFENSE, OR ON SECOND THOUGHT, DESIGN A SCHEME THAT FITS INTO THEIR CAPABILITIES. YOUR DEDICATION TO YOUR WEST COAST OFFENSE IS BLINDING YOUR PERCEPTION OF THE PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB WHICH IS TO WIN FOOTBALL GAMES BY MAXIMIZING YOUR STRENGTHS AND MINIMIZING YOUR WEAKNESS'. RIGHT NOW I'D SAY THE TEAMS BIGGEST WEAKNESS IS THE SCHEME THE OFFENSE RUNS, AND THE BLIND COMMITMENT TO IT. HOPEFULLY CALLAHAN WILL RECOGNIZE THIS BEFORE THE BOWL STREAK ENDS ABRUPTLY. LATE.

My gameball goes to....Darryl Jackson, his surehandness allows the Rams to keep a stranglehold on the NFC West. Alexander is a premier back, no doubt about it...but I'll let him pick up 150+ as long as there is a zero in the column that counts. Props to the Rams for coming out aggressively and sticking to Seattle. What happens when Robinson gets suspended? Seattle's road woes continue.

So much for that "stranglehold" on the NFC West, kman...Rams go to Buffalo and get WORKED by the Bills. And with the Cardinals and Niners also getting beat down on the road, the Seahawks will gain a game on the field after their win over Miami today. Rest of the schedule favors the Seahawks...only 2 road games from here on out.

Boy you sure were quiet all last week...No kidding I saw the game, Buffalo got up and everything kind of snowballed, Faulk not playing much didn't help matters. Dilfer did a good job and got the W which all you can expect out of a backup. Both teams have some tough games remaining...no insult to Carolina, Arizona, and Dallas. Seattle runs into Buffalo, who just hammered STL, then they get a gimmee against the hapless Cowboys. Then they've got two tough games...on the road against Minnesota (with Moss projected in the lineup) and against the Jets (Pennington may or may not be healthy). Then they close out with 'Zona and a always dangerous Falcon squad. STL goes to GB and if today was any indicator...they will struggle, they just don't play that well in cold weather. Faulk was banged up and that really puts alot of pressure on Bulger and Co. Following a gimmee against SF, consecutive road dates follow at Carolina & 'Zona...certainly a bit easier than Seattle's road games. However, they close out with Philly...the class of the NFC & the Jets (who will certainly have Pennington back barring another injury). It's really shaping up to be a close race in the West, and I wouldn't be shocked if Arizona proved to be a spoiler, lots of young, explosive talent on offense...and they always play everyone tough at home...something that doesn't bode well for STL. If STL can steal a win in GB, which certainly is possible...even more so if Green's rib injury is more serious then believed, then the pressure is squarely placed on Seattle, due to the fact that the Rams hold all tiebreaker advantages.

Wow...looks like Buffalo clobbering STL wasn't a fluke eh NWI? IF (and that's a big IF) the Rams can somehow steal a win in GB tommorrow night, it puts a ton of pressure squarely on Seattle's shoulders. Kind of funny how K Robinson was busy appealing his substance-abuse suspension...now he's going to miss 3 more games where his team could really use him. I expect a shoot-out tommorrow night. The Packers are on a RB by committee basis, and neither team can really stop the pass. Unless it magically turns to summer, I don't know how STL can steal a win. However, GB is only 8-6 at home since the 2002 season, and 3 of those losses have been blowouts...I dunno, I just think the Packers will do enough to win... GB 34 STL 28

Yeeeeessshhh.....what a horrible effort defensively. That was the kind of effort that would make a lesser fan burn his Grant Wistrom jersey and switch allegiance to somebody like, say, the Saints. Offense has been hot and cold all year, and we needed a much better effort than the one turned in Sunday. But the defense not being able to stop the Bills' ground game was just horrifying to watch. If the Packers can win Monday night, nothing changes in the NFC Wuss. Seattle is making this a much closer race than it needs to be, and with road games at Minnesota and the Jets coming up, this was a tough loss to take. Fortunately, the Cowboys come to town for a Monday night game. Should be an intriguing matchup between inept offenses...Hawks 13, Cowboys 9.

BUT, NOONE CAN SCORE ENOUGH POINTS ON THE STEEL CURTAIN. TOO BAD SO SAD! GO BLACK AND GOLD LATE! SORRY ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS NWI. TELL GRANT WINSTOM TO STOP BELLY DANCING AND GETTING PUNKED AND CONCENTRATE ON SACKING THE QB.

It's not even worth cracks about NWI...lol, I don't care who wins the NFC "Worst". Seattle has another defensive meltdown and the Rams beat SF...thank gawd! Now we've got a tie with 4 games to play after watching Philly on Sunday, I have no reason to believe that they won't score 50 on the Rams in a couple weeks, they are just clicking right now, its unbelievable. The AFC is really starting to shape up with some really interesting possible playoff games. This next month of games will be intersting.

Seahawks are now officially in a free-fall. Giving up 38 to Buffy-low and THEN watching Dallas light them up for 43 -- both at home -- tells me that we'll be fortunate to win the NFC Worst. Road games the next two weeks at Minnesota and the Jets will determine whether or not Seattle goes to the playoffs or not. I don't know what hurt worse Monday night...watching the Seahawks blow a 14-point first quarter lead AND another double-digit fourth-quarter lead, or the fact that they did it against America's Crackwagon. Man, do I hate Dallas... Last year, Seattle was 8-0 at home and 2-6 on the road. With 4 weeks to go, they're 3-3 both home AND away. Yeesh....

Let's just hope the Steelers softened them up so Seattle can come in and finish the job next Sunday. But after Monday night's debacle and the near-fatal crash Sunday, the Hawks had better be up 21 points at the 2 minute warning or I'll lose what little mind I have left. By the way, kman...how DID the Scams do today??? If they're not too careful, the Niners might catch them for second place. If only the Niners could play Arizzzzzzzzona every week...
