More than 50 Wrestling Legends to Attend Trials

World and Olympic Team Members Reunion Slated


Sioux City, IOWA – May 23, 2006 – Many of the greatest international wrestlers this country has ever produced will be on hand for the 2006 USA Wrestling World Team Trials in Sioux City, IA this weekend.



Over 50 wrestling legends will be at the Tyson Events Center on Saturday and Sunday, May 27-28 for the tournament that will determined Team USA for this year’s World Championships in China. Among those scheduled to be in attendance are: Dan Gable, Cael Sanderson, John Smith, Tom Brands, Terry Brands, Kevin Jackson, Kenny Monday, Bill Scherr, Jim Scherr, Ben Peterson, Steve Fraser, Lincoln McIlravy, Lee Kemp, Doug Blubaugh and Chris Campbell.



“This will be the greatest group of world class athletes ever assembled the tri-state area,” noted Tim Tushla, Event Director. “What a unique opportunity for fans to see their past and current wrestling heroes in one place, at one time!”



The wrestling VIPs schedule of events includes:



Wrestling Legends Night the Sioux City Explorers minor league ball game on Friday, May 26 at Lewis and Clark Park beginning at 7:00 p.m.



Autograph sessions at the Tyson Events Center at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday after the first session of competition each day.



The Gold Medal Social at the Sioux City Convention Center on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. following the first day finals. The public is invited to attend by purchasing a ticket at Tyson Events Center for $25. Children under 12 are admitted free to the social with a paid adult.



Tickets for the World Team Trials are on sale at the Tyson Events Center Box Office or through any Ticketmaster outlet. Adult reserved seating is $20 per day or $35 for all sessions. Adult general admission seats are $15 per day. Children under 12 can get reserved seats for just $15 per day or $25 for all sessions. General admission seats for children under 12 are just $5.



Wrestling begins both days at 9:00 a.m. Finals and third-place matches are set to begin at 4:00 p.m. each day.
