This note just in, sent to all Kansas Wrestling Officials from Mark Lentz (KSHSAA Wrestling Administrator), great to cool down the uproar this issue justifiably caused among coaches and officials in Kansas.

"During the meetings and talking with the area supervisors (who represent you as officials), we have decided to allow tape on the head gear. It was stressed in the BV Northwest meeting that this would not be allowed. Tape will be allowed, just as it has in the past few years, as long as the head gear/ ear guards are not a hazard or danger to the opponent. In addition, the head gear/ear guards must remain sportsmanlike as intended by rule. We feel this is not an advantage or disadvantage to a wrestler."
