State Qualifier Registered: March 21, 2005 Posts: 1035 | Page 4 of the the wrestling records list several wrestlers who were 5 time All Americans. How can that be? |

Never Mind. I looked again and saw that they were DII and DI All Americans. I should have remembered Gray Simons. He was a 7 time National Champion in the late 50's and early 60's for Lock Haven. He won the 115 lb. NAIA championship 4 times and the NCAA 3 times. (NCAA wrestlers had only 3 years of eligibilty. Freshmen weren't eligible.) NAIA was much tougher then. There was no DII or DIII in those days. Imagine adding DII and DIII to this year's NAIA. NAIA National Champions were qualified for NCAA tournament and and many years one or more of them won the NCAA. |

And the facilities page has a nice shot of the Sapp fieldhouse full of wrestling mats. No matter how hard Trev tries he just can't seem to shake the ghost of UNO football and wrestling.This message has been edited.
