Junior High Registered: January 06, 2008 Posts: 523 | Amazing kid! I was just looking over his matches at state for the last 3 years. He never did less than dominate them all (pins or techs). They should move him up to 130 this year just to give him some competition. Is that even allowed or advisable? Good luck Thomas!!! |
Junior High Location: Scottsbluff, NE Registered: December 06, 2006 Posts: 512 | cant imagine anyone in ne pushing him at 132. im sure he will be where ever they need him for the team. skutt should be the favorite for the class b team title this year if everyone is healthy. |
Junior High Registered: January 06, 2008 Posts: 523 | Gillman could certainly be Skutt's wild card this year. I imagine using him like that would be to both his and his teams benefit. In other words, coach could move him up as need be for the benefit of the team and to give Gillman the competition he needs to stay tough. It's stories like this that keep me interested in Nebraska wrestling. |
Novice Registered: November 15, 2007 Posts: 234 | I cant wait to see the lineup someone post with all the dual matchups Skutt has and what weight they can put Thomas. Lets say he's wrestling 125 this yr. At what point does Brad put him in against someone at 145 or even higher? Maybe he'll scored a few matches at RCC this year if they put him in at 152 Nice article TG, Good luck! |
Junior High Registered: January 06, 2008 Posts: 523 | Even if he risked losing a few at higher weights, such a challenge would make headlines and certainly wouldn't hurt his career. |
Junior High Location: Omaha, NE Registered: December 17, 2002 Posts: 541 | I think the talk of him wrestling 145 or higher guys is a little far fetched even for a kid as talented as him. If he is at 125 and bumps up to wrestle a decent kid at 145 it may not hurt his record as much as it will hurt him physically. There is a big difference between the physical prowess 125 pounder and a 145 pounder. |
NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | He can't wrestle up more than one weight from what he weighs in at. |
Novice Registered: November 15, 2007 Posts: 234 | yeah injury is always a worry. This kid can hang with the D1 guys that outsize him so I would have to bet my money on him beating a "decent" 45lber in this state. |
