It will be this weekend with Nebraska winning the National Championship with 165, 174, and 197 winning National Titles.

Wishful thinking anyways.

Not all great wrestling stories are about great wrestlers. This one is about a great kid. I’ve watched 135 lb. Kurt Thomsen from Omaha Westside struggle for 4 years as a varsity wrestler. I don’t know that Kurt ever won a tournament in his four years. But he always worked hard, maintained a positive attitude and never quit.

Watching Kurt stand on the medal stand as the A4 district champion was one great moment this year. What a way to put a period behind his wrestling career!

I guess I did, he's a favorite but a tough weight class

Even better story if they win it without him winning it.

A tie between Brester beating Varner and Browne winning the Big 12 title. Browne's interview afterwards was another part of the moment.

You know why winning the Big 12 was special to me? When that crap went down with Donahoe, and K Jordan, they (coaches/administration) handled it with integrety. Many schools would have outwardly, publicly penalized the kids, but few would have given them their walking papers. It absolutely needed to be done, and my hat goes off to Coach Manning, and to all the coaching staff for getting this group to believe they still had a good team, and could win.We also lost Mike Rowe in the offseason, then Jon Burns to injury, but this group kept their focus and won the damn thing...that makes me proud to be a fan.

How is that a moment of the year? Ya the kid deserves it but he was the favorite.

Actually, huzker...I think this thread's implied question was the NEBRASKA wrestling moment of the year, so Caldwell over Metcalf, while quite impressive, would not qualify, either.

I'm just sayin'...

For me it has to be calling Rocker from Cabo saying we are at the Wabo and getting ready to party with this guy!
Nothing says it has to be wrestling!
