Tom Osborne surprised all attending Ord fall athletic banquet last night, he graciously accepted a last minute suggestion to ' drop in ' to the banquet. He spoke extemporaneously for approximately 30 minutes including naming Ord natives such as Jeff Quinn and others that have been a part of NU football, as many of you likely already know he has some great stories to relate and many are very funny, he punctuated his essentially impromtu speech with emphasis to our high school athletes to work toward balance in their lives; a lifelong livelihood in sports is reserved for a very, very few; prepare yourself physically for your best effort at your chosen high school/college sport(s) and do the same intellectually at the same time, look beyond sports; and, prepare yourself spiritually as it will likely be needed throughout; physically, intellectually, spiritually.
