Twice a year, this class takes a trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. In the past, this has been a one day trip and fairly easily affordable to most students. This year, we have the unique opportunity to hear and meet Professor Elie Wiesel in New York City. For those who don't know, Elie Wiesel is a Holocaust survivor and author of "Night." He is one of the most influential and important people in the study and prevention of genocide. Because of this opportunity, the trip now lasts three days and will cost around $1,000. To help raise money, the folks who oversee the Nebraska Holocaust Memorial (located in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln) have agreed to help us raise funds. For a $100 donation, you can have a brick engraved with up to two lines (with a reasonable number of characters/letters per line). These bricks will be used in further construction and improvements at the Memorial. Pictures of the Memorial can be viewed at http://www.holocausteducationfund.org If you or your place of business would like to help out, you can make a check out to Nebraska Holocaust Memorial and send it directly to me at my school address. Please consider this endeavor, as we can really help students grasp and learn from the past from this once in a lifetime experience. Thank you all for your consideration.
