I think the remaining teams are Aquina, Crofton, Wisner-Pilger, and Wakefield. Think Madison dropped out of this. Don't know if they have picked up another team.
According to schedules posted on the NSAA website participating teams are:
Aquinas Columbus Lakeview Crofton Laurel-Concord Pierce Plattsmouth Wakefield West Point CC Wisner-Pilger
Possible good matchups: 112: Zach Skrdla, Aquinas vs. Justin Allen, Plattsmouth vs. Travis Bauer, Lakeview 125: Chase Conn, Crofton vs. Nick Rech, Aquinas 171: Cole Rhoades, Plattsmouth vs. Chad Price, Pierce 275: Cole Matthes, Wisner-Pilger; Dennis Bergland, Plattsmouth; Brent Fiala, Aquinas; Anthony Storm, Wakefield
Looks like a lot of fun. Hopefully everything goes well for everyone. Hopefully Blue Devils come out on top. I do believe Rhoades will be wrestling at 160 the rest of the year.
A couple of things. First, what time do the duals start. Second, I am assuming that they are actually in Pierce. Finally, what team if any is favored to win.
Plattsmouth won the tourney over Aquinas with pins from Ferdig(103), Bashus(119), and Springer(140). Major decisions came from Martin(189). Wins from open weights also went to Bashus (135), Browne(215), and Bergland(275). Outstanding wrestling from Plattsmouth was displayed throughout the tournament by many of their wrestlers, of which Ferdig, Bashus, Springer, Browne, and Bergland all went undefeated and pinned all the wreslters they faced.
Zech Skrdla won over Justin Allen 9-3 Zech did a very good job with a cross body ride that Justin just could get away from. Play by play 1 period Allen TD for 2 Skrdla RV for 2 2-2 after first 2 period Skrdla chooses down Skrdla E for 1 Skrdla TD for 2 5-2 after second Skrdla TD for 2 on bad shot by Allen Allen E for 1 Skrdla TD for 2 Allen tries throw unsuccessful. Good match. Skrdla and Allen both wrestled Allyn Knobbe from West Point Central Catholic and were very good matches with Skrdla winning 1-0 and Allen winning 7-3.
Plattsmouth win 40-35 with Major by Jared Martin at 189. Aquinas was very good and if they had a full line up it may have been even closer. The three Plattsmouth wrestlers who had the forfeits were 135-Chad Bashus who was 4-0 with 4 pins, 215-Cameron Browne who was 4-0 with 3 pins and a forfeit and 275-Dennis Bergland who was 4-0 with 2 pins and 2 forfeits. So who know what would of happened. Over all Plattsmouth wrestled well. 103 - Ferdig 5-0 2 pins 3 forfeits 112 - Allen 4-1 3 pins 1 decision 119 - B. Bashus 4-1 2 pins 2 forfeits 125 - Krug 1-4 1 pin 130 - Meisenheimer 1-4 1 pin 135 - C. Bashus 5-0 4 pins 1 forfeit 140 - Springer 5-0 4 pins 1 forfeit 145 - Schuh 2-3 2 forfeits 152 - Keil 3-2 2 pins 1 major 160 - Rhoades 4-1 2 pins 1 tech 1 decision 171 - Helmick 3-2 1 pin 1 tech 1 decision 189 - Martin 4-1 3 pins 1 major 215 - Browne 5-0 3 pins 2 forfeits 275 - Bergland 5-0 2 pins 3 forfeits. Not bad overall record of 51-19 with 30 pins. Way to go guys.
Cole Matthes of Wisner-Pilger gave Bergland probably his best match of the year so far. Matthes winning 3-0 going into the third. Before the freight train hit him. Anthony Storm was his other opponent from Wakefield. Handle fairly easy. Very undersized HWT.
Blue Devil, what is your opinion on how Plattsmoth does at Clarks. Break down each weight if you have some time. Also if Plattsmouth fares well maybe they move up from their #10 Team Ranking in Class B. What are your thoughts.
