The week's Sports Illustrated, "Faces in the Crowd" highlights Bryan Whitt, a 112 lb. junior at Norfolk, VA Academy. He was named the outstanding wrestler in the Virginia State tournament for pinning all four of his opponents within the first minute of each match. He finished the season 48-1, with 38 pins.

Rumor has it that he will transfer to Gretna for his senior season. Smile He hasn't heard the rumor yet but I'm willing to pass it along to him.

1999 State Tournament Lance Tolstedt pinned all four of his opponents in a total of 2:29.

How quick did some other Nebraska wrestlers pin all 4 State Tournament opponents on the way to a title?

Wasn't aware there was a record kept for most pins in the least amount of time for a State Champion or any other placer. Can you point us to where this record is kept Nate?

Gretna must have made some darn good money hosting that B-2 district...LOL.

I believe he also placed at National Preps. Bryan Whitt is probably the second best 112 lbr in Virginia behind Devin Carter (#1 ranked nationally) of Christiansburg. Unlike Nebraska, Virginia does not allow the private schools to compete with the public schools in the Virginia High School League state tournaments (AAA, AA, A). The private school state tournament is typically not as competitive as the AAA and AA tournaments.
