Rookie Registered: January 15, 2008 Posts: 86 | I do not give my kids any due process! There are things that they know that they can not do. If they violate those rules, we as parents administer the consequences immediately. That is the problem with kids today. Too much time worrying about what is owed them and due process. I can assure you that the same grandfather that talked about maintaining your reputation would also take you behind the wood shed for some due process if you violated the families rules and core values! Some call it tough love these days, but in reality all of the values I learned came from quick and swift consequences. Anytime in life that I thought I could manipulate the system or play in the grey area, I knew that consequences were possible, but I never consdered them during the fun of the activity. When I thought about crossing grandpa, I always thought twice or even 10 times before crossing the line! |

Wrestling is a privelege not a right. These guys only lost their priveleges to wrestle. They can stay in school if they wish. |
Rookie Registered: December 12, 2005 Posts: 197 | Yea 189 mom if your kids ever get arrested be sure to tell the officers that you would like to wave there due process rights |
Rookie Registered: January 15, 2008 Posts: 86 | There is a difference between being arrested and having to be proven guilty and doing something stupid that costs you a spot on the wrestling team. It is clear wrestling 1 that you are struggling with the decisions made at UNL. This is not about due process...it is about accountability! If there is a due process issue then I am sure that both of these porn stars will contact their agents at Strippers R Us and file a claim. My pennies are on the fact that there will be no forth coming action! |
Junior High Registered: April 26, 2005 Posts: 503 | Due process is the method by which we hold institutions accountable: And I'll bet not one person that has posted on this topic, including me, have a first hand knowledge of any of the facts of this matter. The dispositive difference for those athletes should be that I acknowledge that and don't leap to judgment without a substantive hearing of the case. Apparently the "wrestling family" discards one of its own- one a national champion- at the slightest sign of trouble unlike real families that discipline but properly allow the chance for reform and redemption (not that I think any is needed in this matter.) Nice reliablity. Sue'em all. |
Rookie Registered: December 12, 2005 Posts: 197 | So 189 mom tell me the difference between breaking a law and breaking a NCAA or UNL rule? Oh I no the NCAA and UNL are above the law, because it is Nebraskas beloved Huskers they do not have to follow due process. Wrong you are due process is a constitutional right in this country. If your kids ever got arrested charged and convicted without even a hearing! I am guessing you would be the first one to scream due process. Or is it just that you want to take the moral high ground and say oh they are strippers so they are not entitled to there constitutional rights? GIVE ME A BREAK! Like I said previously if they broke the rules kick them off the team great! But to not break rules in order to enforce rules! |
Rookie Registered: December 04, 2005 Posts: 51 | the slighest sign of trouble?? Jordan has been charged with trespassing and assault and Donahoe also has had run-ins with the law!! They have had their chances and repeatedly got into trouble! The fact that Nebraska is paying for their schooling gives them the right to kick them off of the team for conduct that they feel doesn't reflect positively on the team |

What are you trying to say? Please don't answer that! I can't take any more of the rants from some of you that are making all these negative comments! Rookie Registered: April 21, 2005 Posts: 59 | This event has even "inspired" bigot Fred Phelps, pastor of Westboro church, to produce a video chiding the University of Nebraska and these two young men. Warning: Video contains offense remarks and some obscenities. http://www.signmovies.net/videos/news/2008/20080813fagnebraska.html |

Rookie Registered: January 15, 2008 Posts: 86 | Wrestling 1...if you were my boy I would give you a case of due process! In all of the posts in here...yours are the most ignorant and uniformed! You appear as one that needs the due process and a good public defender! |
Junior High Registered: October 06, 2003 Posts: 510 | I think they (from above video reference) are mostly attention seeking. They will say some utterly offensive thing ... and then smile. Shows that it is a well-rehearsed routine for them. Makes it pretty clear they don't really believe it and are just out to make waves. It's the same group that protests soldier's funerals. |
Rookie Registered: December 12, 2005 Posts: 197 | Hey 189 mom Im not your BOY! Oh and what I said in fact your posts are just one step under Mr. Phelps So go feed your 100 cats and eat a big bowl of ice cream maybe that will cheer you |

Either that or there will be some "time outs" administered. It is perfectly fine to disagree about any given topic. Just do it respectfully. Thanks. |
State Qualifier Registered: March 21, 2005 Posts: 1035 | It's interesting to see all of the posts that use the terms "family" and "due process". My parents had the silly idea that it was their responsibility to teach the kids the difference between right and wrong. And we always got due process. If we did something wrong we knew we were DUE to receive punishment and we knew that Mom and Dad knew how to PROCESS that punishment. “The best thing to spend on your children is your time.” |
