As I'm sitting here with no seniors in class today, I was thinking that Matt Anderson at Crete now has 3 former assistants that are head coaches (Brian Jones-Howells, Theron Troxel-Freeman, and myself at York). What other coaches out there now have had a few assistants go on to be head coaches at other places? I know some of the legends in Nebraska wrestling obviously will have some, but I'd like to hear about any other head coaches that have turned out additional head coaches in other places. I figured the board was slow today, so I'm contributing at least!

Mattox, can almost count Tahner Thiem of WPCC as an Anderson product. That would bring the total to four.

Not necessarily former assistants, but Mike Denney has a proverbial forest when it comes to former wrestlers who have gone on to become high school or college coaches. I did a story on this many moons ago on NWI, and I seem to recall the list then was somewhere in the 40's.

Also coach McCurdy at LE has had several to go on the be coaches. Someone else will have to do the statistics. Know he also has some now that are currently assistants.

That's an impressive list for Coach McCurdy. I'm sure there are other lists out there with coaches that have coached for a very long time.

Dick Thomas was the Head Coach at O'Neil and Elkhorn. He coached Nick Umsheid who is at McCook and Patrick Beyer who is at Bishop Neumann. His assistant coaches were Kyle Bluhm, Dan Radicia, and J.P. Holys and they all became Head Coaches at Elkhorn.

While in O'Neill, Dick Thomas also coached Ed Schaaf (Head Coach/Broken Bow) and Jeremy Strong (Head Coach/Weeping Water).

Others under his tutelege who've had coaching experience in the past include Jimmie Johnston and Jesse Moore. He was a very influencial coach in just the short 10 year time span that he coached in O'Neill/Elkhorn.
