Junior High Location: Bellevue Registered: November 21, 2002 Posts: 433 | Is this a new event? It is in direct competition with AAU Ironman Folkstyle Championships in Omaha. |
Junior High Registered: September 24, 2007 Posts: 527 | New event that Nebraska is hosting. We will be holding Northern Plains with in the next couple of years. It will be good experience for our kids if they chose to take advantage of the regionals coming to Nebraska. Relentless |
NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | Yes 6 through 12th grades are all on one team. I currently have commitments from ND, SD, KS and IA teams. They don't have to be from the same State. So recruit how you want and let's wrestle. The Dual tournament format is where all the matches are. Are kids in Nebraska need more freestyle and greco opportunities. So do are officials. We have Northern Plains Regionals coming to Nebraska next year 2012. |
Rookie Registered: December 26, 2007 Posts: 110 | I have a son that would be interested in wrestling. Is anyone in the state putting a team together? |
State Qualifier Registered: April 05, 2005 Posts: 1120 | I'm assuming they will be putting a team together starting with the state placer at this weekends tournament and go from there. |
NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | Yep that's right MatCat. If I can get a few guys to help recruit we could put together quite a few teams. It's all about getting matches at a reasonable price. I should know more from Iowa this weekend. South Dakota has kids that want to jump on a team. We will see. |
Rookie Location: Plattsmouth Registered: January 25, 2011 Posts: 40 | So honetly, how many teams and matches are we estimating at per wrestler? |
NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | Well if we get 16 teams: Pools will 4 with 4 teams....Then 2 eight team brackets. That's 6 matches in Freestyle and 6 matches in Greco 8 teams: 2 pools of 4 then 1 eight team bracket with seeding criteria. So again, 6 matches in both. 6 teams: Round robin....so 5 matches per style. 10 total. We are looking at 8 teams for this year. There's a date conflict with Kansas Southern Plains camp. |
Rookie Location: Plattsmouth Registered: January 25, 2011 Posts: 40 | So who do we contact to inquire about being on the team? |
State Qualifier Registered: April 05, 2005 Posts: 1120 | All the information was given out at state yesterday. |

NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | This was also emailed to everyone that wrestled at USA State Freestyle/Greco Just a note to let you know how things are going. I don’t have enough teams from other states at this time to hold this event. I’m counting on 2 teams from Nebraska and we have a team from North Dakota. Several others on the fence. I will make a decision by May 19th (Thursday). This will give you time to make other arrangements for that weekend. Some of you have expressed wanting to do the duals but, if not, would need to sign up for the Ironman tournament. The Ironman tournament’s registration deadline is May 24th, so this shouldn’t be a problem. Any help from anyone that has friends in other states surrounding us would be greatly appreciated. These don’t have to be State sponsored teams and kids don’t have to be from the same State. Heck if I had the time I bet I could put teams together from the other states for them… Sometimes it’s just finding the right person to put it together. If you know someone then hit them up. I have kids from South Dakota and Nebraska that would be willing to fill in some gaps on other teams if necessary. I’m very surprised that I’m not getting anything from Iowa yet. Surely they have kids that would want to wrestle. If you are getting this email and you know of someone that needs this information please forward it on to them. These are the email addresses that signed up at Freestyle State. I have also provided a link to the USA Memorial duals flier for your convenience . http://nebraskausawrestling.org/memorialduals.htm Sincerely, Fred Franklin NE USA Wrestling Kids Director |
