Glenbard North is down this year. They lost a dual and finished fourth in a tournament that they were in. On the other hand, they are a big physical scrappy team and you won't find a more intense coach that Mark Hahn.
Also, for Gross fans that are not aware of this, Caitlyn Chase is penciled in at 103. She's the top-ranked female wrestler at that weight in the U.S.
At 103 pounds Caitlyn Chase (1-0) v. Dan Patterson
At 112 pounds Mark Schultz (6-2) v. Nate Novotny
At 119 pounds Bryan O'Connor (10-3) v. Tom Pulte

Glenbard returns five starters from last years team. Glenbard has to be favored at 112, 125, 130, 135, 152, and 189 while Gross is favored at 103, 140, 145, and 215. That means Gross would likely have to win every toss-up weight to win the dual (119, 160, 171, and HWT).
Burke is wrestling Owatonna, Minnesota in the first round. Owatonna is currently ranked #3 in AAA behind Apple Valley and Simley. Owatonna returns 10 starters from last years team and five of those wrestlers are ranked in the top 10 at their weights. Owatonna should be favored to win at 112, 130, 135, 152, 171, and HWT while Burke should be favored at 103, 119, and 145. That means Burke would have to win the majority of the toss-ups to win the dual (125, 140, 160, 189, and 215).
103- Dan Card v. Dylan Laughlin
112- Alex Meger (ranked #7) v.
119- Nick Miller (returning starter) v. Tony Valdez
125- Tyler Grunwald v. Andrew Curzon
130- Chris Prince (two time state placer is currently ranked #2) v. Zach Randall
135- Torris Erler (returning starter) v. Kenny Michel
140- Titon Erler (Ranked #7) v. Justin Crouch
145- Derek Skala (returning starter) v. Travis Liechti
152- Colin Davis (returning starter) v.
160- Brody Jensen v.
171- Russell Smith (2003 State Runner-up is currently ranked #3) v.
189- Chris Tacheny (returning starter) v. Shaun Craig
215- Kyle Schweisthal v.
HWT- Matt Oeltjenbruns (returning starter) v. Rick Henry
By the way, I now have the in-state rankings of all the participating wrestlers posted (except for Florida, Wyoming, and Nevada). Florida doesn't really do individual rankings and I can't find Wyoming's or Nevada's.
At the Auburn tournament Burke had Shay Sullivan a returning state qualifier at 125, Curzon at 130, Randall at 135, and Kenny Michel at 152 now that crouch is at 140 and Liechti is at 145. They also had Brad Corey at 112. This is a young line up so it will be interesting how they do.

If that is the case; wouldn't she be favored at 103? I believe Gross's 103 pounder - Dan P - is 7-4; and is only ranked in a single poll (at 6th in HB's Nebraska Class B rankings).
I was just curious if the top-ranked 103 pound female wrestler in the US should be favored over at-best #6 ranked wrestler at that same weight in Nebraska (according to available ratings).
If she is not favored; then it seems like the #1 ranking in the US isn't a particularly useful measuring stick.
Let's get it on ,cause we dont get along! Best of luck to Skutt,Burke & Gross. One thing about it win or lose no one can say you havent wrestled the best. Nebraska should be proud sending 3 teams to this monster. Go get em boys!
