Unfortunately we had a team bail out on the event at the last minute and we are left with only 24 teams. The plan was to have 5 pools of 5 with four duals - then on the second day take all of the 1st place teams into a new pool of 5, the 5 2nd place teams into another pool of 5, so on and so forth. Now we will go 4 pools of 6 the first day (5 duals the first day and 3 the second).
We will be fine and will run a smooth event, however, we are willing to accept one more team. I know it is late and know some movement in anyone's schedule is tight at this point. If you have the points, this being a 4-point event, and are interested - 1st coach to contact me is in - mschadwi@gips.org. The dates are December 17-18, 2010. 8 guaranteed duals over the two days!

Cornfed, I wish at the time we could have let you in. Would have mad a lot of sense. So far no luck... its awful late at this point. If we only have 24 it will work out fine. I'm just glad we aren't stuck with 23 or 27 or some odd number that doesn't work out well, 24 will fit fine.

Teams are in 6-team pools each team wrestles 5 duals the first day. The first duals start at noon after a 10 am weigh-in. On Saturday the teams placing 1st in each pool will be in their own new pool of 4-teams. Each team will be have 3 duals on Saturday for a total of 8 duals. Start time for Saturday is 10 am. There actually won't be a "finals" because the actual final round could take place earlier due to it being pools. We set it up this way because last year we had a few teams that had to wrestle each other twice and there is no reason for that to happen. I'll try to post the pools later today...

Let's hope the GI Independent does the same bang up job they did last year with the coverage of the event!

We were all asked to personally rank the top 8 teams. Otherwise, there was no real seeding. I think they did a pretty fair job of evening out the pools, in my opinion.
