I guess if Connor Bolling goes 125 then he throws the entire CC lineup out of sequence. I believe he will stay at 119.

It will definitely be worth the trip to the Qwest Center.

Besides, I think Gilman would go 125 if Bolling went up. He wants the matchup and Connor should want it as well.

Whom ever loses it is God's will. There can only be one victor and there is nothing wrong with placing 2nd to the best wrestler in your weight class. Sportsmanship is the true key to a great athlete. How you treat your opponents is of the utmost importance, not only in victory yet in defeat as well.

Good point LG. One should ask; is it better to wrestle the best in the Country and see where you are or bump up a weight so you dont have to???

Personally I would want to wrestle the best. That is why I advocate for a 4-Man Round Robin Champion of Champions right after the State Finals on the same day.

Tell me who wouldn't buy a ticket to watch that round? Smile

Always remember that there are different levels of wrestling. Being a Nebraska State champ is a level of accomplishment but being a National champ is a few levels higher than that.

Jesse Browne was defeated at the Waverly Duals.

Wisner-Piger Invite:
119
1. Garrett Bowder, Pen (9-2) pinned Lake Thompsen, BC (18-1) 5:44

Connor Bolling vs. Thomas Gilman:

Gilman will do everything within his own power to wrestle Bolling at State. So I say step up to the plate and stay at 119.

Is it really worth it to push one of your own teammates, (i.e. Eric Knight) off the roster just to say you went undefeated? What about Central City's chances of finishing in the Top 3 at State with their original lineup. If I was the coach, that is what I would be looking at, the Team Title vs. an Individuals own wants and desires. Wrestling is a game of sacrifices. You don't always get what you want.

Just look at Central City's Team Score from the Central City Invite. The scored 176 and would have easily broke 200 with Eric Knight in the lineup. Sad to see that happen, yet it did. That is exactly how it will effect them at state, only worse.

My son wreslted down two years in a row because Christian Loges as a freshman came in at the same weight. He was much taller than Z and in a growth spurt. So, with the teams unending support he went back to 103 with a lot of hard work. It worked well at State, however it was a miserable 3.5 months of wrestling. Frown

There is nothing in a Championship when you know you purposely avoided a wrestler to achieve that goal. It is in my opinion selfish and unfair to your teammates.

Well said LG. And it's not just about Central City finishing in the top 3. They have (had) a legitimate shot to win the whole thing. No Eric Knight, no team title. Period.

I'm thinking AAron Rerucha was 18-0 before the High Plains tourney, would now be 24-0. Izzy Martinez 285 Madison finished HP 21-0 as well.
