Went to St. Francis today. Lots of good finals and some good semifinal matches. I tried to write down results as we went, but I don't know if I got them all right.

Team Score
1. East Butler 139
2. Friend 129
I don't know.

103
1. Devin Zitek, EB pinned Tyler Christensen, Fullerton 5:09
3. Josh Zachery, GIJV pinned Brian McGrath, UNA 1:43
--Zitek looks very strong. Should place in D

112
1. Bryce Havlovic, EB pinned Jeremy Thomas, GIJV 1:52
3. Nolan Bruner, UNA dec. Nicholas Rohde, Randolph 2-0
--Very weak weightclass.

119
1. Robert Eklund, FRI pinnd Jesse Peters, Lutheran High NE 1:38
3. Nate Roe, GIJV dec. Devin Smith, Osceola 4-2
--Hard to judge Eklund on this meet. No real challenge.

125
1. Chris Marsh, FRI dec. Mark Ramaekers, St. Francis 8-6 OT
3. Cole Ratkovec, EB dec. Cole Barnes, Norfolk Catholic JV 2-0
--Great match in finals. I think takedown in OT was first for Marsh in match. Catch and release and I think Ramaekers wins handily.

130
1. Craig Ternus, HSF pinned Nate Moore, FRI 3:59
3. Kyle Chmelka, EB pinned Saul Sanchez, GIJV 2:01
--Ternus dominated. Heard rumor (and only rumor at this stage) that Marsh might be done for the year.

135
1. Casey Gubbels, RAN maj. dec. Bernie Nicola, Bergan 17-5
3. Levi Melcher Holy Family dec. Kyle Wasser, EB 4-2
--Best bracket. Gubbels was too strong for Nicola physically. Closer than score, but still controlled by Gubbels mostly. Nicola did look good 15-3 over Wasser. Gubbels pinned Melcher.

140
1. Cole Meyer, FRI dec. Kenny Schumacher, RAN 9-5
3. Michael Ramaekers, HSF dec. Josh McPhillips, Holy Family 3-2
--Meyer sqeaked through in both 1st and 2nd round. Finals was not as close.

145
1. Nolan Whalen, RAN pinned Eric Frenzen, Fullerton 3:01
3. Ryan Nielsen, Bergan maj. dec. Eric Lynn, Roncalli 17-8
--Good semi with Nielsen and Frenzen. Nielsen looked good, but got out of position a couple of times.

152
1. Zach Ascherl, Hartington CC dec. Doug Metzger, FRI 9-8
3. Nick Korth, Roncalli pinnd Brian Smith, RAN :30
--Ascherl hit a sweet farleg cradle from a front headlock and then held on.

160
1. Sean Mulcahy, Roncalli pinnd Joe Rozmiarek, NCJV 1:14
3. Jesse Olson, RAN dec. Chris Stewart, FRI 9-8
--Not very tough.

171
1. Eric Sueper, HSF pinned Cody Smola, EB 5:06
3. Nicholas Thies, RAN dec. Dylan Smith, Osceola 11-5
--1 winning record

189
1. Aaron Heinen, HSF maj. dec. Stephen Sunderman, LHNE 10-1
3. Jesse Frizzell, Scribner-Snyder pinned Tim Wright, EB 1:44
--Heinen is an athlete.

215
1. Don Frizzell, S-S pinned Victor Vela, FRI 3:04
3. Anthony McPhillips, HSF pinned Tony Delancey, FUL 2:46
--Vela got taken down and looked like he gave up.

275
1. Josh Hlavac, EB dec. Taylor Escamilla, Bergan 8-7
3. Andrew Sunderman, LHNE pinned Anthony Schulenberg, S-S :54
--Great match with Hlavac and Sunderman in semifinals. Sunderman punts him to back to start and lost by 1 or 2. Blood everywhere during this match. In finals, Escamilla reversed Hlavac to tie it 7-7 and it looked like he would have got 2 nearfall at least but his nose started bleeding. Hlavac gets the escape with :18 left and Escamilla hit a nice double with :04 left but didn't hit the mat until after time expired.

Good tournament. As MM stated some weights tougher than others.
.
Heard the same rumor about Marsh. Hope their not true.
Exciting heavyweights. Like watching them when they work like the top 3 did.
Will say a few things different than MM
Casey looked good against Nichola. I don't think he was ever behind and handled him on takedowns.
At 140 final was actually 9-6 got a stall call at the end. Won't argue about the match after it's over.
145 Whalen had a good tourney. Did want to see Nielsen. Had beaten Frenzen earlier.
Was watching the 215 finals. Wondered if Vela got dinged on the take down. He didn't move much after it.

Rumor you heard about Marsh was incorrect. He'll be back on February 1st. McGee might be done for the year. His mom is fighting the school's decision. Sound like she has a shot at him being back.

Those two wrestler may be ok but them making state finals isn't going to happen Flyer. So stop bragging up your own wrestlers!

Marsh is the only wrestler from Friend sitting out. McGee is from East Butler. Both got into a little trouble and now are taking their punishment. The two incidents aren't related.

I heard that Only one wrestler has gotten a takedown against Casey Gubbles this year. I see that the score between Gubbles and Nichola was 17-5 were any of Nichola's 5 points due to takedowns or just escapes. Does anyone know???

If marsh woulda been wrestling, craig ternus wouldn't have stood a chance, if marsh runs into ternus ever (which will only happen at state) ternus will be scared, because he knows he cannot and will not beat marsh, marsh will dominate at state, Nuff Said. GO MARSH!

the word around butler county (wrestling capital of the state) is that he got caught chewing tabacco in class and that he will be held out of wrestling for the year. that coach better hope the rest of mcgees friends dont get caught too or else they're gonna lose the whole team.
