World Champion Registered: August 27, 2002 Posts: 6425 | Here's the obituary for those that want to send flowers or attend the service. ----------------------------------------------------------------- WAYNE, Neb. -- Dan Nelson, 23, of Wayne died Friday, March 18, 2005, at his residence. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wayne, with the Rev. Mark Tomasiewicz and Deacon Patrick Gross officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne. Visitation will resume 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Daniel Vitt Nelson, the son of Ray and Marta (Johnson) Nelson, was born Dec. 9, 1981, in Wayne. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Wayne High School in 2000, where he was active in football and wrestling. He later attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. He was currently serving as a staff sergeant with the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City. He married Shellie McClure on march 9, 2004, in Las Vegas. The couple lived in Wayne. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and was a talented artist. He is survived by his wife, Shellie; a daughter, Londyn; a son, Daniel Jr. "Elijah"; his parents, Ray and Marta Nelson of Wayne; two brothers, Jeremy Nelson and his wife, Kristi of Wayne and Matt Nelson of Lincoln, Neb.; grandparents, Ray Nelson of Sioux City and Ed and Maxine Johnson of Kearney, Neb.; mother and father-in-law, Robert and LeAnn McClure of Turin, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Michael McClure and his wife, Bobbie and Craig Sherer, all of Turin, Iowa; two nephews, Xavier and Wyatt Sherer; aunts and uncles; grandparents-in-law, Kenneth and Shirley Hansen of Turin, Iowa, and Frank and Sandra Parsons of Onawa, Iowa; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents; and grandmother, Dorothy Nelson. Pallbearers will be members of the 185th Air Refueling Wing, Trevor Modlin, William Blatchford, Tom Flinn, James Gegner, Bradley Thompson and Steven Streeter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Nelson, Matt Nelson, Mark Bohls, Dan Roeber, Matt Roeber and Todd Volwiler. The family of Dan Nelson thanks you for your sympathy and kindness and invites you to lunch at the Holy Family Hall following the committal service. |
