State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | McCoy over Slaughter of Louisiana, who was undefeated. Mccoy still has a shot at #2 in his pool. Esai looks to be #1 in his pool. |
State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | Trenton Washington gets 3rd in his pool despite beating Rau (IA) who got the #1 seed. Trenton lost to the #2 seed. Pokorny is also a 3 seed after losing to Grjelas and Eng. |
State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | Fargo is a tough tourney that is for sure. The guy who got the #1 seed in his pool in 140lbs (opposite Esai and Mccoy) lost a match 6-0, 7-0 to a guy who did not even place. Esai has a great chance to win this thing. I just wish it said NE instead of IA on his singlet. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Red Rocker, |

State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | Esai beats Slaughter and wins his pool. Esai will wrestle for the 140lbs greco title as a junior. Mccoy will wrestle for 3rd place at 140lbs. Pokorny will wrestle for 5th place at 112lbs. Washington will wrestle for 5th as well even though he has only one loss AND he beat the pool winner. Tough luck there. |
State Qualifier Registered: October 16, 2005 Posts: 1077 | Jeff Slaughter (140lbs) from Louisiana committed to Nebraska on July 11 according to Intermat.com Both Esai and Mccoy have beaten him in greco at Fargo today. Pretty cool. |
Junior High Registered: October 06, 2003 Posts: 510 | I think Esai showed pretty clearly that he isn't taking a backseat to anyone in Nebraska. Good for him! |

Why no third period??? |
Rookie Location: Columbus, Nebraska, USA Registered: October 20, 2002 Posts: 47 | If the score is tied, the winner is determined by criteria. Criteria in order of importance: least amount of cautions 5 point move 3 point move last point scored. In a 1-1 match, the winner would be the wrestler without a caution, or the last wrestler to score. For instance, I commit a foul. The official gives me a caution and you 1 point. Then I secure a takedown and receive 1 point. You win the period even though I scored last becasue I have a caution. A similar set of circumstances could happen in the 2nd period, or I score a takedown first and then you take me down later in the period. Score is 1-1 but since you scored last....you win the period. Because you won 2 out of 3 periods, you win the match! Hope that clears it up. |
Junior High Registered: April 26, 2005 Posts: 503 | Congrats: Esai, Kellogg, Rau, Koethe: For years we sweated with all of 'em and Massey trained all of 'em. Due to Keith and Zac, more AA's have come out of that room than almost any other in the country: Only 35 miles from Omaha. Well done Nebraska Juniors. Thanks to the coaches and athletes for the effort and sacrifice. |
State Qualifier Registered: April 05, 2005 Posts: 1120 | And people think I'm crazy for driving Dante' all the way to Underwood from Kearney. I give credit to Massey for Dante's Kids Freestyle and Greco Roman National titles that he won in Greenbay,WI this year. Keith, I'm sure your very proud of how your wrestlers are doing or have done. Were very thankful for what you have done for us. A Rod |

Rookie Registered: May 19, 2006 Posts: 58 | Esai looked very tough and very composed. He had to wait around to wrestle a match after the women's finals today because of a protest and they put him up on the big stage. Then he was up on the stage a short time later for his finals match and looked very impressive. He did some little dance after he won that was pretty impressive too. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but it was pretty funny. |
Junior High Registered: April 26, 2005 Posts: 503 | A-Rod: No doubt the trip is always worth it. At one practice we had something like 10-14 AA titles in the room: And now Nat'l Champs as well, including some kid named Dante. Congrats to him. |
State Qualifier Registered: April 05, 2005 Posts: 1120 | Congrats Esai From the whole Rodriguez clan |
