Rookie Registered: February 10, 2011 Posts: 9 | I would like to wrestle and was told there might be some "old guy" matches in conjunction with school matches. Can someone give me information on that? I would need some coaching, too. I live in North Platte. Any ideas or information? Damon |

Rookie Registered: February 10, 2011 Posts: 9 | I am 5' 9" tall and weigh about 140 pounds. I did not wrestle in high school except for a gym class, and not in college. |

You can get on rocky mountain nationals website or google it to see when the next tournament is. Living in North Platte Denver is not that far. |

There aren't a lot of opportunities so you have to keep your eyes open. Most of the guys that wrestle at these meets were fairly decent high school wrestlers in their day. But, probably not in great shape anymore. |

Junior High Registered: January 06, 2008 Posts: 523 | Check out some of the local martial arts clubs. There are clinics in the summer. And great tapes and DVD's that can be purchased. Also, check out youtube.com for free instruction. And I'm sure some local coach would be interested if you were willing to pay. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Patriot 152, |

Junior High Registered: January 06, 2008 Posts: 523 | Damon, you and I are in the same age range. I prefer biking and gardening. But more power to you. Good luck! |
Rookie Registered: February 10, 2011 Posts: 9 | I like gardening and biking, too. I bike to work and to run errands when I can. We should have more biking weather soon. |

Don't take this the wrong way, but you better get a full physical BEFORE you enter a tournament. Even if you are in good/great shape, there is a HUGE difference between being healthy and being in wrestling shape. It is, bar none, the most physically grueling sport you can participate in. I can recount numerous times where people have had to get oxygen (or worse) during and after a match at an old timers tournament. |
