Rookie Registered: December 26, 2007 Posts: 110 | What an awesome experience my son and I had this past weekend in Danville, IL. If you have not been a USA wrestling supporter in the past then you are missing out on a great experience. Fred does a great job organizing the trip and the kids from Nebraska represent our state very well. I just want to say thank you to Fred and the rest of the USA board for providing this opportunity for the kids. |

Junior High Registered: September 24, 2007 Posts: 527 | Nebraska Blue went 0-4 on the first day.. We had a tough draw first pool...Indiana Gold, Illinois Silver (2), Minnesota Maroon (2), Ohio (2) We went 2-2 the second day and where in both of the other 2 duals. We beat an Ohio team and Texas Team. Lost to the alternates, but was mostly comprised of Minnesota kids that had a bye that round and the top Texas team. Great experience for the kids. All of the wrestlers gained more from their 7-8 matches at this level than the local level tournaments. A lot of our kids don't get pushed much more than 1 match a tournament in Nebraska. They all had 7-8 battles! Relentless |

NCAA Champion Registered: February 03, 2003 Posts: 2006 | I believe this was one of most competitive turnouts at MSDs that I have seen in quite some time. Minnesota was very tough and they finished 5th. The Nebraska kids battled well. Some of the dual team scores don't depict the closeness of the individual matches. Kids had a good time and saw them set up to higher levels from the first dual to the last. The first dual really seemed to catch them off guard no matter what we tried to tell them before it started. It was an eye opener for sure. One thing I've noticed over the years is that just because a wrestler only wins 1 or 2 matches at these national duals doesn't mean it was a waste of time. On the contrary, they still were pushed to wrestle at a level that they would rarely need to be at if they were to have stayed at home. As the tournament went on you could see them changing a few things like their finishes on takedowns and hand fighting on bottom. They battled and will grow from the experience. |
Rookie Registered: December 07, 2005 Posts: 130 | Fred, I just want to thank you and the other coaches for doing this. I know Bailey and Brandon had a great time and learned alot. Its great to have people like you around to do things like this for our wrestlers. God knows I would love to do this, but with other commitments its hard to do. Thanks Again!! We really appreciate it! Justin McDuffee Scribner-Snyder Schools |
