There is nothing like an evening filled with drama and adrenaline like the semifinals/heartbreak round. It's not even a topic for discussion...I've sat through every state tournament in every sport, and nothing touches Friday night at state wrestling. This is why I am so adamant against the suggestion that we need to place eight at state the way track does. This would ELIMINATE at least half of the energy that is generated on Friday night. The "heartbreak" round would be in the second round of consolations, which might make Friday afternoon entertaining, but would kill a lot of Friday night's energy.
