Did Phipps really beat Hatley? That would be a great win.

Phipps looked good when we saw him late spring pinning Cody McGee and beating Klingelhoefer 6-2 after Klingelhoefer took second at Rocky Mountain Nationals .

Phipps was beating Hatley by 5 or 6 points then pinned him. Warner was very much in control no doubt about it.

Just to clarify the score of the Hatley-Phipps match it was 2-0 with 1:23 seconds left 3rd period. Hatley tried a throw and Phipps countered and pinned Hatley. Phipps is a good wrestler.

Also Hatley got 3rd at Bighorn losing to the Colorado state runner-up Hooper in the semis 4-3

He also challenged Kevin LeValley (3x Co. state champ and Junior National Greco runner-up 2006.) at 152lbs and lost 3-2

It is a constant battle to get better, some will at least test the water, rather than stay home and look at their old trophys and relive past accomplishments.

Shouldn't there have been another takedown and a penalty point against Hatley?

Admit it. He got stuck in a match he was going to lose anyway.

WWCIM....

I don't remember the penalty point...he was cautioned for stalling which was OVERTURNED BY THE OFFICIAL.

He was behind and felt he had a throw...guess not

As far as you go4zpin.... you never leave gering other than disney duals and you wrestled NOBODY of any importance there. Go to FARGO if you want to prove yourself OR ANY OTHER NATIONAL TOURNEY. FACE IT YOU NEVER PUT IT ON THE LINE. Beating a kid from your district at state is not the same.

There was plenty of good competition at Monster Match and Bighorn at whatever weight your kid would have chose to wrestle: 152, 160 or 171 he just needed to SHOW UP !!!!!

By the way ask Phipps, who won the shirt at Chertow camp. He knows what I mean.

Also this is preseason...lets see how we all do at the END of the season.

Nevermind- I won't add to the stupidity but lets try not to diminish Warner's win which doesn't have anything to do with this pissing match. He won the match, period.

Congrats to Warner.

Thanks Rick, (at least somebody gets it!)

BTW, I wasn't diminishing Phipps'win but let's not EXAGGERATE IT either. A win at a preseason tourney, or a loss for that matter, does not encompass a wrestlers abilities or talents for a whole season.

Most of you on here know wrestling and the amount of work it takes to get better and I am sure that you also realize what extra wrestling does to advance a wrestlers' career. That is all Hatley is trying to do. Root for him or against him it don't matter, but at least give him (and the other kids) credit for getting out of the house and attempting to get better.

All the rest is STUPIDITY..........

You sure try to make it work for you though.

I guess you can say what ever you want but saying "Ask Warner who won the shirt," seems like you are trying to discredit his win.

I am sure they are both good wrestlers and will do well this year.

Sounds to me like Hatley is a poor loser. So what if you got beat, get over it but don't make up lies about how you tried a move and Phipps countering it. Phipps had a body lock and put Hatley to his back end of story. But also if pre season wrestling doesn't matter than what does a shirt from a camp have to do with anything.

Cactus man,

The whole reason why I commented about the match in the first place was because the score and facts were wrong (the 5-6 points that was SUPPOSEDLY the score)...Phipps had a bodylock but Hatley had a double over (which is a throwing position in case you didn't know) and he did try to throw.

I used the shirt scenario to illustrate that Phipps may be a good wrestler but Hatley took him down MULTIPLE times at Chertow and Hatley was AND IS certainly on Phipps level when it comes to wrestling. It just happened that Phipps won this time. Maybe they will meet again.

Now if you want me to expound on any other facts or explain anything I can and will, but if you want to make little jabs about being a sore loser; then try the opposite and be a humble winner.

AS ALWAYS,

Smile

To be fair, I don't think Hatley or Phipps is posting on this thread so it is not fair to call Hatley a sore loser or to think that Phipps is not a gracious winner.

Also, the score was not so grossly exaggerated. If the score was 2-0 and Phipps gets a takedown, the score is 4-0. If Hatley gets off his back the score is 6 or 7-0. So the 5-6 point lead was not an exaggeration.
