To have it all suddenly end with the closing of the UNO program is a very sad deal. Is wrestling completely out of the picture now for him? I know he is an engineering student. |

I'm not sure how his eligibility clock works in this situation (if it's frozen since he isn't wrestling). I hope he can finish his degree, then still go wrestle and use up his remaining athletic eligibility. I'm just not sure how the NCAA works in regards to this situation. |

Junior High Registered: January 06, 2008 Posts: 523 | That's good to know Maverick! I'm sure we all wish him well and look forward to following his career. He's certainly a success in many ways. Does anybody about Chavez and Kottas? |

Out of curiousity, can't Esai petition for an olympic redshirt(I'm guesstimating Esai is going to compete to make the Olympic GR team)? Though he may not intend to wrestle collegiately anymore now, wouldn't it leave the door open? |

Here's the criteria for an Oly RS. 1. Past Senior World and Olympic Team members 2. Top eight placewinner at the 2011 U.S. Senior World Team Trials 3. Top three placewinner at the 2011 NCAA Championships or NCAA champion from a previous year AND a top two finish at the 2011 University National Championships (must accomplish both). http://www.themat.com/article.php?ArticleID=22539 |
